about halfway i was ready to say it sucked but it finished strong. i will need to give it some more listens. i know there will be songs that wont get more than one more play. not sure how many will stay in rotation.

how do you listen to music? like, what makes it good?

i wont be 100% focused on it but enough to get a feeling of it. if im too busy or cant concentrate i will wait on the first listen.

songs i like get added to a playlist songs that i love get added to that same playlist and another. around this time of the year im mostly shuffling that second playlist to give music more listens. either with headphones or in the car or in my stereo system at home. ill give them some time to grow on me before i revisit the albums in full.

earlier in the year im mostly going back to the first playlist but right now its at 750 songs so i will mostly use it go back to songs that i didnt love but i think could grow on me. ill do this a bit more target, maybe listen to all the songs from one month instead of shuffling the whole playlist.

i think beats get me most, if i like the beat im interested. im not looking for any specific message in the lyrics or complex patterns. i just want music i can vibe to and that i wont get tired of. if the songs have little nuggets that i can catch on multiple listens thats always fun. if the lyrics are catchy without being cringy, cool.

for this album some beats werent that good to me. his rapping was fine. kinda eh on the auto tune ones. after one listen it seems more spotty than kod but there are some songs that i think i might end up liking more than anything on kod.

i have it as good/really good right now. i need to see how it sounds after multiple listens.

it’s a bonus if the beat catches me but I listen to the lyric...is there a story to tell. i won’t listen unless i can finish it...cole’s telling a good, honest, believable story track after track.

i havent made a playlist for a specific mood/theme in a long time. i made one last summer for the protests but before that i dont remember the last time i did. not sure why that is. i used to make CD mixes that had a theme or mood to them.

Pretty good if slightly uneven. I replayed the last two tracks a couple times, I dig the track with Olu

kind of reminds me of nao without the quirky voice if that makes any sense.

im right on the line of liking to loving most of it. not sure which way it will go on repeat listens.

i think the album cover kind of tinted my opinion some. if i had only seen the album cover i probably would had passed.

This was solid. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, thought it would be more Internety, but it was entertaining throughout.

Nearly all of them have put out solid solo projects, and in terms of vocals, one could argue that some of them are actually underutilized

This is a very solid album. I enjoyed it a lot.

I think it's just going to be DMX for me.

I don't know what I was expecting but I thought this was pretty damn good.

I think the second half was really good.

I won't get all sappy here as I did on all my social media, but this artist Mustafa from Toronto just released his debut project (unsure whether to call it an album or EP at just 23 minutes) and it's mesmerizing, for me. It gave me the same chills I got when I first heard Sampha's "Process", and Sampha is a feature on this album. It's acoustic guitar-driven, but soulful.

A bit delayed, but wanted to stay consistent. I have a hazier memory of some of these.

The Czar/Doom seems a bit high but I did enjoy it. I think Patrick will come down some once I revisit the score. I was impressed with the Apathy and Mustafa, a bit too recent to have insights on how they will age for me. I kind of really liked the J Cole, I think there's a few tracks weighing it down but overall it was really good to me. Not sure about the rest.
