And I don’t even like police. Also my aunt got me watching Chicago fire. I don’t fuck with the other Chicagos but happy for yaya.

Then! Fbi and fbi most wanted are my mf shows!

Dick wolf RepuG supporting ass HAS to be in the convo for greatest tv producer of all times!

13429373, With the return of Stabler, SVU bought themselves at least 5 seasons

I love the show. It's an institution.

And yeah, if my TV Land self is trapped in some SAW dungeon in NY, I want Benson, Finn & Stabler on the case- because my situation would definitely be a crossover with organized crime.

I'm not exactly a fan of cops in general, but I love the characters on this show.
13429387, SVU is my go to show for relaxation

which is odd since every episode is about someone getting sexually assaulted.

I like how downright BAD the acting/direction is in some of the episodes and the over the top acting

I haven't seen the newest ep(s?) with Stabler returning
13429406, True, but every ep is also about trying to help the victim and nail the perp

True. I used to have this same sort of thought, but it dawned on me that this is also about helping the victim and getting perps off the street. There's something comforting about that.

Though, as I grow older, some of the tactics employed gve me pause

>I like how downright BAD the acting/direction is in some of

Lol yeah. There's a layer of cheese genuinely accepted as part of the charm.
13429546, the issue I have is that it portrays police investigations

in ways that are not at all like what people actually experience

@silentintellect
13429604, Wait, so something on tv doesn't match real life?
Posted by Cold Truth, Fri Apr-09-21 11:41 AM
Stop the presses!

Thanks for pointing that out, because everyone knows the appeal of SVU rests solely on being a 1:1 recreation of how police investigations play put in real life.

How do we let the rest of these die hard fans know this dirty secret?
13429388, And the new Stabler show L&O: Organized Crime is flames

13429390, Going back to childhood police shows were always my favorite...

Hill Street Blues, Chips, Miami Vice, 21 Jumpstreet, COPS lol
13429397, cops lol
Posted by tariqhu, Thu Apr-08-21 08:27 AM
I like some cops/detective shows. Homicide was my favorite though.
13429398, I can never watch just one ep of SVU lol
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Apr-08-21 08:29 AM
even if its 2AM and USA still has the marathon on, it's always "well lets just watch up until the intro just to see what the case is about...ah shit i watched the whole episode. well lets see what the intro is on the next ep"
13429569, I tapped out a few seasons after stabler left
Posted by Cenario, Fri Apr-09-21 08:47 AM
I felt no connection to alot of the new characters.

Amaro and the spanish DA were just wack as fuck.

80% of my appreciation for the show was stabler and his relationship with female partners. I felt that benson was more easily replacable
13429627, Amaro sucked but I liked DA Barba
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Apr-09-21 12:58 PM
Rollins was the star of that new crop for sure though
13429571, I can't handle L&O because of their unresolved cliffhangers
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Fri Apr-09-21 09:08 AM
I'll be all into the episode. I'm engaged with the characters, the storyline is popping. Everything is building to a high point. Then something completely ambiguous happens at the end and ......

13429599, Anyone ever watch How to Catch A Smuggler?!?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri Apr-09-21 11:28 AM
I hate that I love watching it because these custom agents are soooo foul. There whole ass job is looking at people and guessing who might be a smuggler or breaking the law. And because its customs they aren't held to the same standards of due process that regular cops are.

So they really just like, this young black dude traveling alone looks suspicious, let me stop him. Oh he nervous talking to me? We need to do a cavity scan.

And then they are wrong 80% of the time!

And yet I watch because they got me trying to guess to whether the people they stop are smugglers.
