13424097, Sup fams? Who got hit with that snow, though?
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Feb-15-21 11:00 AM
We got like 2 inches over night...about to start back up, by noon and go all the way through the evening...6-9, projected. Came downstairs and fired up the computer for work, only to get an email that our mainframe is down...due to bad weather in Dallas. So, drinking some coffee and watching The Office marathon.
13424099, Chicago. It just won’t stop

I have to get my second vaccine today. I was thinking about taking a Lyft, but now I think I will feel safer on the bus. Ugh
13424100, even got some out here in el paso
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-15-21 11:12 AM
i think 2/3 inches was the forecast. happened saturday night. high in the low 20s yesterday. i think getting a low of 12 last night/this morning. were supposed to hit 40 today though one our way to 70 by saturday.

somehow the streets were not a mess for once. we usually dont prepare well for snow. was wondering if we were going to have to come in to work today, yep we did lol im glad i live pretty near by and didnt have to worry about getting on a freeway.
13424102, You don't have Presidents Day off?
Posted by SuiteLady, Mon Feb-15-21 11:15 AM
and you know I am in the same city as you so....
13424104, yep, yep...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Feb-15-21 11:20 AM
and naw...President's Day isn't one of our holidays. We supposed to get hit again, Wednesday into Thursday. I'm a little jelly, cuz if we were working from the office, we would have been closed. I'll take that trade of 1 or 2 snow days a year, to work from home.

with breaks in between.

I think we ended up with about a foot at our place. Sounds like it was 10 inches to 2 feet depending on your location within the region.

We've been getting increasingly worse snow storms every year for the last 4 or 5 years, and they almost always happen in early to mid February.
13424125, dayum...I thought we were gonna get on out of here...
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Feb-15-21 02:05 PM
this winter, without too much accumulation. February was like "hold up"
13424124, Is it NOT snowing anywhere besides FL?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Feb-15-21 01:50 PM
13424126, lol...true...

13424151, Texas' power grid is non-existent right now
Posted by will_5198, Mon Feb-15-21 05:44 PM
it's 15 degrees in Dallas and supposed to be 6 degrees overnight. we haven't had power since 7 am. all the hotels in the entire Metroplex are sold out.
13424156, I never realized you lived in Texas
Posted by calij81, Mon Feb-15-21 06:42 PM
I don’t understand why your power grid can’t handle the snow. Is everyone’s home heated via electric heaters?

I love how all the conservative media and my conservative cousin like to talk shit about California when our grid goes down and blame it on the “liberal/socialist California agenda” as a reason why the power is out. However, they are silent when conservative Texas can’t keep the grid up during a winter storm.

Now, it’s like ‘yeah, but you regret voting for Biden now!’.

If not that, it’s like ‘mane! It got cold! Nice trick, Mother Nature! Our bad.’. Seems pretty lame regardless. I’m in texas but have had electricity so far. I know a gang of folks who lost theirs in the middle of the night and are still out.
13424164, I have a friend in Houston without power and a friend in San Antonio
Posted by calij81, Mon Feb-15-21 07:49 PM
He still has power but he said other part of San Antonio are without power.
13424165, I got a homegirl in Dallas who said her power has been out...

13424190, now it's time to blame renewable energy
Posted by Rjcc, Tue Feb-16-21 08:11 AM
even though that isn't the problem at all

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
13424260, Of course it’s renewable energies fault and help us government
Posted by calij81, Tue Feb-16-21 03:19 PM
With disaster handouts but don’t tread on me and socialism sucks except when we need your money to cover our disasters.
13424211, really sucks that people are going over 24hrs without power
Posted by mista k5, Tue Feb-16-21 10:27 AM
were on a separate grid so havent had to deal with that. definitely have family that is dealing with it though.
13424155, No snow in San Diego but it was cold last night, like 55, sweater weather

Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Feb-16-21 11:02 AM
shit happened to us a few years back. Tried to use the fireplace but had to get a hotel for the night.

13424229, There’s a very light dusting on my car.
Posted by JFrost1117, Tue Feb-16-21 11:51 AM
My coworker in Houston says his pipes have been frozen all weekend and he hasn’t been able to shower.
13424240, My people in Ohio said they got 8-12 inches and are expecting more
Posted by Marbles, Tue Feb-16-21 01:08 PM
The pics are ridiculous, especially some of the snow drifts. They're under a Level 3 snow emergency right now. https://www.weathersafety.ohio.gov/snowemergencyclassifications.aspx

Meanwhile, it was 80 degrees here yesterday but it's now dropped to 67.
13424242, doesn't Ohio get heavy snow every winter?
Posted by PROMO, Tue Feb-16-21 01:19 PM
i assume so, but not totally sure.
13424247, Pretty much. They usually get a couple of big snowstorms each year.
Posted by Marbles, Tue Feb-16-21 01:59 PM

(It's been a while since I lived there.)

Even so, they still got his hard. A Toledo news station reported that this was the 5th largest snowstorm on record for them, over 2 days.
13424249, okay, so even for them this is exceptional. got it.
