Let it ride for a bit and just binged the first five episodes last night/this evening.


It's got bits of a lot of genre stuff - Broadchurch, Prisoners, The Outsider (before it got all supernatural) but the cast is wildly good and the northwest Philly setting is so hyper specific in every detail. Plus for a mostly dramatic show they really do a good job balancing with some levity - the Jean Smart renaissance continues! And Evan Peters clearly watched a LOT of Colin Hanks-as-a-cop footage and is awesome at that role.


There's a chance the broad strokes of the plot are gonna try a little hard for a dramatic twist at the end but at this point if they go goofy they've earned it from me. At least there's definitely not a Cthulu monster waiting at the end of the tunnel.
