13423939, Calling witnesses is going to take two years? Posted by mrhood75, Sat Feb-13-21 03:22 PM
>As much as I'd like to see Tommy Tuberville give a >deposition, nothing would come of it. All you would get are a >bunch of "I do not recall". There wouldn't be bombshell >revelations.
Get everything on the record. Plus, the Democrats look goofy, calling for witnesses then saying, Whoops! We changed our mind." Especially since there are no discernable "trade-offs" here. Republicans aren't going to cooperate with shit no matter what, so why give anything to them based on empty promises?
>The outcome of this thing was decided before it started. >Nothing will change any votes. And I don't think it's likely >witness will change public perception either.
Right, so like... they shouldn't have bothered? And the whole "It won't change public perception!" is such a plea cop. The opening arguments, particularly the House Democrats' video, did a lot to crystalize how bad this was.
>But the cost would be high. It could tie the senate up for a >long time. The clock is ticking on this majority. They need to >confirm judges and pass legislation while they still can
Yeah, this is B.S. Plus, as said below, they're on vacation next week. So what exactly are they risking holding up?
