13419525, and I think it should've been a different movie

I love The West Wing, so don't get me wrong where I stand on Sorkin and politics. I even love The Newsroom for all its wonkiness.

But this movie didn't feel like it was reading the room. It's hard to watch Bobby Seale get dragged out of that courtroom and then go back to Sacha Baron Cohen doing standup routines and Joseph Gordon Levitt growing a conscious at the last minute because Sorkin loves to humanize his (white male) villains no matter how out of touch it is with the rest of the script.

And Bobby's ordeal ultimately feels a little fetishistic as well because once he's gone, he's gone. He feels like a prop for Sorkin to make a point as much as a real character in the movie.

Like I said, it's a fun popcorn movie, but its politics are pretty shaky IMO.

I liked Eddie, too.
