13413850, Biden’s Cancer Initiative spent mainly on staff salaries.
Posted by allStah, Sun Nov-15-20 10:34 PM
No money was remitted for grants, prevention or assistance. About 4 million was raised, and 3 million went to salaries.

This is not a good perception at all.

Was this mission simply created to put money in his friends’ pockets?

and the salaries for nonprofits always seemed crazy high to me

I’m sure people will give reasons why it isn’t a problem but damn... when damn near all your donations pay for salaries it looks like a money grab.
13413857, We’re really about to do this?
Posted by MEAT, Mon Nov-16-20 07:58 AM
You search for this story and the sites that come up are the Post, Washington Examiner, and Breitbart ... the MSN link is just a reprint of the Post article.

Is he clean 🤷🏾‍♂️
Is everything above board 🤷🏾‍♂️

But it’s the folks trying to make this a story are not. Never. Not even a little bit.
13413869, Historically speaking, he’s a shady and mostly feckless politician
Posted by Tiger Woods, Mon Nov-16-20 09:31 AM

There’s really no sign he’ll be able to circle the wagons, affect change, and realize much of his agenda.

But at least he isn’t Trump
13413925, there doesn't need to be a sign
Posted by Damali, Mon Nov-16-20 02:03 PM
he just needs to put the right people in the right positions to do it

y'all keep forgetting that the president doesn't actually "do" much...its the people in the cabinet and the department heads that actually do mostly everything. the most he can do alone is executive orders but the whole government does not run on those.

y'all stay on that 'one man' dumb shit.

this is an entire new administration coming in...THOUSANDS of people.

This could possibly be charity fraud. It would be one thing if it wasn’t created by him, and he was just supporting the initiative. He created the charity in honor of his son who died from cancer.

I’m sure it will be swept under the rug as ignorance, and he will claim that he was unaware of the financial handlings snd bookkeeping of the mission.

That motherfucker was elected as an alternative to a sociopath. He is basically a lesser evil president, and this is one of his evils.

The real change will come in 2024....no other way.

Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Nov-16-20 10:36 AM
I read all I could find on this and I haven't seen anything where they told donors they were going to do one thing then did another.

Also didn't see anything about donors complaining.

Zero funds went to the research itself..zero

Salaries, travel, marketing, and other overhead shit. They basically spent 1 million to con people out of 3 million!

They Traveled to Market a mission that generated nothing but salaries.

13413889, All charities are frauds.

Only 5-15% of the money go to the charity itself.

It’s where the rich gets richer.

Call it what it really is. Quit playing.
13413892, So if you can tell that charities are ripe for BS
Posted by MEAT, Mon Nov-16-20 11:33 AM
How can you not tell which ones are fraud and which ones are just the norm?

Because fraud exists and it seems like you're conflating that with this.

So when a charity in its entire existence spends zero money on the charity itself, after promoting that it would provide assistance, grants, etc to fight against cancer , then Yes it can be associated with fraud.

You said this this other day: “to be white, rich , old and carefree”, and that was in regards to Congress being lavish during a pandemic.

But you’re going to bat for this?

based on the laws for charities and salaries..

but if it’s true it’s definitely a bad look and IMO it should be considered fraud.

No way a charity should take in 4 mill and distribute no funds to anyone besides its employees.

"The Biden Cancer Initiative has taken in several million dollars in direct funding for its operations, but the bulk of the money supporting the partnerships it promotes came in the form of indirect pledges.

That money did not go directly to the nonprofit but instead has been managed by the participating companies and organizations to fund their research and work."

Doesn't really say money raised for research was not used for research. Seemed the money raised was for operations and went deirectly to be managed by participating companies and organizations.

The Initiative only exsisted for 2 years so didn't really get off the ground.

Title sounds like click bait.

I’m not one to defend charities that spend most of their money on salaries and then dissolve after a few years

That’s just me tho

I still remember those lollipop charities and that 60 Minute piece that showed them on yachts because by law all they had to donate was 5%.

That’s when I first realize the hustle...

But some people have no issues with a non profit exec making big money.

Posted by allStah, Mon Nov-16-20 02:52 PM
It hasn’t stopped politicians before. What does that have to do with anyone being a shyster or dishonest because they lost a loved one? Based on history, people have used that very thing to dupe the masses out of their money. It actually acts as more of a motivator.

Considering that most middle and top charities spend about 150,000 on salaries for executives, and Biden’s charity went well above that number. And charity analysts stated that it is recommended to spend no more than 25 percent of the money on overhead and administration cost, it definitely raises an eyebrow.

Did Biden help his associates to profit of his name and image, and the legacy of his son?

That is the question.

USA politics has a huge history of fraud and corruption, so asking that question is not far fetched. And it is not hunt. I voted for the guy.

Relevant paragraph:

"Mr Simon: The point of the Biden Cancer Initiative is not to fund projects, interfere with regulatory decisions, or to lobby. We do not give grants, we do not touch patient data, we are not a silo of genomic information. Instead, we’re looking for efficiencies that can be implemented and addressing cultural issues that might be slowing us down— the brakes we are leaving on while we drive the car, so to speak. Our goal is to work with the different organizations to figure out how they can double what they’re doing. When problems arise, we’ll address it by assessing solutions that already exist. We want to enrich the possibilities to scale a ubiquitous solution to a local solution.

We focus on creating the solutions to the problems that we know already exist, elevating collaborations and new efforts that improve patient outcomes and save lives."

There are all sorts of non-profits that do things other than directly give benefits to their targets.

This initiative ain't March of Dimes and never put themselves out there as an organization that gives direct benefits to cancer patients.

This story is a hatchet job.

Also, in that same link that you provided, he stated:

“The initiative works closely with patients and patient organizations, cancer researchers, cancer centers, research universities, governments, private and philanthropic sectors, and organizations including the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators to identify and address the critical issues in cancer prevention, research, and care to drive new actions and collaborations to find cures.”

None of that money that was spent went to any of those elements ....3 million to salaries and the rest to travel, accommodations, etc.

What did the initiative actually do?

When a charity spends over 25 percent of money on overhead....when most top charities are at that number or below, come on. Or when executive salaries are at a quarter of a million dollars, and the avg for charity executives is 125,000?

You’re giving a lot of leniency to a bunch of old, white rich guys in an industry that is known for scamming and creating loopholes.

you acting like Joe that lives check to check working at McDonald's got swindled outta something.

i'm not downplaying how it sounds like they probably did little to nothing, but i'm SURE the vast majority of donors were just rich people that Biden knows, and they got their tax write off even if it just went to salaries.

that exploited a serious medical disease to generate lucrative salaries for its
executives. They can spew whatever business language that comes to their minds about their initiative, but they really didn’t do anything.

They focused on providing data standards, to create mechanisms that allowed patients to share data with other patients who are going through the same fight, where researchers will use that data to come up with new answers and methods to improve access to quality care.....lol

Technical verbiage, basically meaning bullshit data being tossed around as work, while people get paid. Cats being paid a quarter of a million to overlook and administer data being pushed around to researchers, analysts, etc.
