Votes are literally NEVER completely counted the night of. Election Night celebrations are about pageantry. They're not constitutionally mandated. If it takes a while to slowly count the votes, it happens. No matter what Drumf says, democracy is not threatened by no decisive outcome on November 4.

The issue in 2000 was Gore conceding by vote, then realizing he was wrong to do so and asking for a recount. And then he the votes got recounted were the issue (hanging chads and all that other shit). The issue in this case are going to be votes that arrive "late" in states like PA or are disputed in states like NC and Texas.

But there's no legal basis for saying that everything has to be over tonight, and no one will be able to file a credible lawsuit alleging so.
