Yeah, people weren't sympathetic to Boris Johnson or Bolsonaro when they caught it. It was more AYDMF. Sure, his base will be sympathetic, but I don't really see this swinging the undecided voter in his father.
As for the debates, it definitely takes the town hall off the calendar. I think it's more likely that the cancel that one, which would suck, because Drumf does awful in those settings and Biden is great. Maybe they'd try for a third one, where he could play him interupting as "strength."
