Got a Hanna Andersson flyer in the mail last week and I'm almost certain is the FIRST time I've ever seen a Black face in their catalogs......like...OBVIOUSELY Black...not just ambiguous-person-of-color-that's-likely-black-but-maybe-not-just-in-case... On multiple pages at that...

I've seen it on websites of all kinds of other brands too....

It's great and refreshing like I said...but...I can't help but wonder; did they just have these models on deck in the "reject" pile??

That's fcked up. How did they get all these new ad campaigns with Black faces shot so fast?? I always imagined it took quite a while...not to mention the hurdles of the pandemic.

I'd love to hear from these now featured models how long ago they shot the pics...also curious of they were adequately compensated..

Guess Black consumer dollars don't hold the same weight. Maybe it's the ad agency hired to make the commercial acting on their own biases?

There's this drug one I've seen sometimes that seems weird, for something to do with living with HIV, and there was quite a lot of black actors talking in that one, even the doctor (and one white male gay couple). I get that there might be some historical demographic targeting they could claim, but I doubt that's what was going through the marketing team's mind.

I think I've started to see it in ads and commercials since the late 90's, it's always that one black guy or woman, in the past ten years Asians & Latinos have been popping up the same way.

And now with comedic tv shows it's always got to be that one gay guy or couple sometimes it will be a black & white gay couple; it's all about that green, no matter how racist these owners of companies & businesses can be, the one thing they will always want is that green money; inclusion means more money for them.
