13404201, So What Are You Doing To Help Biden Win?
Posted by Reeq, Fri Sep-18-20 09:54 PM
you can answer that (and give others suggestions) or treat that as a rhetorical.

the supreme court seat may or may not be lost.

the least when can do is fight like hell to make sure trump isnt the one taking full advantage of it for another 4 (or more) years.

i will post some stuff on here on an ongoing basis.

if you post your state...we can try to find some specific phone banks, canvassing, voter registration, etc initiatives to help out.
13404205, I'm in MA.
Posted by Brew, Fri Sep-18-20 10:18 PM
Got a couple friends in the state house who I worked with in 2012, 2016, and 2018 canvassing, phonebanking, and even going to NH to knock on doors.

This year will be pretty much the same. But I'm open to any other ideas folks may have that could have some impact.
13404213, maybe those of us in sure blue states can adopt a close senate race

13404215, Good idea.
Posted by Brew, Fri Sep-18-20 11:01 PM
I've donated some money to Amy McGrath and Jaime Harrison but as the election gets closer they need more than just $ ... and there's prolly a few other races that haven't been on my radar as much as they should be.

Let's do this.
13404240, Kentucky isn't winnable
Posted by Walleye, Sat Sep-19-20 10:48 AM
Some people are getting rich off pretending McGrath us going to beat McConnell. Embarrassingly, since it's not like she's particularly virtuous, I don't even think she's one of them. Either way, that state isn't flipping.
13404242, Yea good point.
Posted by Brew, Sat Sep-19-20 10:55 AM
I hadn't donated to her campaign in a while, and when I looked last nite and saw the current poll numbers I decided against donating further.
13404243, The Crooked Media dorks have nicely game-ified this

... and the voting-is-the-only-politics liberals are obviously pretty skilled at making that sentiment seem full and through. Only half of that is intended to be an insult, so if you want to spend your donations and time strategically, all my lib friends seem really lit up about this:

Sarah Kendzior and Andrea Chalupa put together an extensive list of resources including for the census, voter registration, voter protection organizations and then lists links to get involved in key Senate and House races.

Crush2020 generates a "plan" based on factors you input including things like how much money you can donate, ways you're able to volunteer (writing, hosting events, call/texting) as well as location and where you'd like to be involved (in addition/instead of your home state):

https://www.crush2020.org/

Everydistrict is focused on flipping 11 states via local and state elections. There are opportunities to donate (they select 10 candidates every week most in need of donations and donations are split amongst those 10), volunteer for phone/text banks and canvassing as well as get info on key races

Posted by luminous, Tue Sep-22-20 11:20 AM
I ordered some merch 1 month ago and still haven't received it. I know there is a pandemic, but that's a bit ridiculous if people can't order pins and lawn signs from his website.

I guess I will have to purchase from a 3rd party.

Michael Moore is saying Biden doesn't have any field offices.

honestly i've been driving around westchester NY a lot lately, which is a democratic area and I see more Trump lawn signs and bumper stickers than I do for Biden.
13404535, Here we go again. If Trump wins again my faith in politics is gone
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Sep-22-20 07:25 PM
This will mean that the media, the polls, the Dems.. are all part of the ruse.

How the fuck is Biden breaking records and can’t mail out merch? That shit should be drop shipped.

Also, this will mean it’s just a big money grab. All this social justice is just a way to get us enraged and engaged in this foolishness. Shit doesn’t change

*yes I’m mad, let’s move on*

13404559, Steve Harvey just faked a live interview with Biden

It was clearly a recording but Steve acted like it was live.

I really hope this was the radios dumb ass decision and not Biden’s team being lazy.

Shit was blatant af. Steve asked a question and the recorded answer started playing early and Steve just did the Diddy all over the track “uh huh, yeah.. mmm hmmm”

Posted by navajo joe, Tue Sep-22-20 09:26 PM
1. Voted already and confirmed the acceptance of my ballot online
2. Have been making donations to several campaigns (Biden, Harrison, Cunningham, DSCC) and will continue to as I can
3. Spent the day updating the voter registration of my aunt, who will need help filling out her ballot this year. She's in her 70s and this will be the second time she's voted.
4. Reached out to my friend who has never voted to ask him to reconsider this year and vote. Thankfully his new GF isn't playing and already has him registered and ready to go.
5. Not directly Biden related but I also did app for being a poll worker
6. Phone banked over the weekend and I'll be spending a large portion of the next six weeks volunteering doing phone/text-banking

- Donations to the campaign

- registered my MOL to vote (she became a citizen this year)

- Signed up to be a poll worker

13404890, I've been getting with a lot of my local orgs to mobilize voters
Posted by Vex_id, Thu Sep-24-20 02:03 PM
I live in a swing-state so turnout is going to be very important. I'm actually thankful there aren't third party options this year (and this is coming from somebody who would very much like to multiple new parties).

To me - the cake is already baked for a lot of traditional voters. I'm focused on the disaffected and younger voters who often sit out - making the case to why Trump is such an existential danger.

But what's way more concerning to me than what individuals are doing - is what the Biden campaign is actually doing. I'm not sure this hands-off approach is working at the moment. The enthusiasm gap is enormous between Trump & Biden right now. This doesn't mean that Trump wins (I'm hoping for a massive march of silent voters in November to counter Trump) - but I don't see why they aren't trying to animate all sides of the electorate.

Hopefully there are enough "Republicans for Biden" to bring it home - but I don't have a lot of confidence right now.
13404915, i dont know
Posted by mista k5, Thu Sep-24-20 03:54 PM
i feel like people do want to vote and yes its very much because they are done with trump. not because they are enthusiastic about biden.

i havent seen any biden signs anywhere. maybe ive seen 3 trump signs.

i have zero doubt that i will vote for biden. i do not want any merch and i dont want to advertise it. when harris was announced as VP was the only time i considered getting some merchandise.

there is an enthusiasm gap between people that love trump and people that love biden but i think there are more people that hate trump than love him. so im not worried about enthusiasm.

i am worried about cheating.
13404918, Yea I think generally speaking dems/progressives ...
Posted by Brew, Thu Sep-24-20 04:02 PM
... are less likely to announce their positions via t-shirts, yard signs, and merch in the first place.

My neighborhood is littered with BLM signs, flags, and merch (myself included) but there's not a Biden sign in site. Couple folks I see around the neighborhood have or have had Bernie stickers on like their bumpers or some shit, but rarely did I ever see a Hillary sign in 2016, nor am I seeing much Biden shit now.

And I know my neighborhood voted reliably blue in 2016 and will do the same this year, so it ain't that they're not voting (it's so easy here it'd be stupid not to) it's just that I think the right has always been more susceptible to the "cult of personality" than the left has. 45 being the most glaring example, but Reagan, Nixon, Bush2, etc. have all had some sort of cult following as well.

i just think enough people got convinced to sit out because "her emails" and whatever

so far i dont see that happening with biden. its more of meh its biden but i cant do four more years of trump so yeah.

i do think there was a good amount of primary stickers and signs out but i have not seen one biden one lol

i almost want to get some anti-trump sticker just to make it clear but im not really THAT dude. maybe a BLM one would be the best move.
13404933, Yea I think BLM would be the best move on a few levels.

it looks like bidens consistent lead with voters 65+ nationally and in battleground states (almost unheard of for a modern dem candidate) is putting states like ohio in play and might be the deciding factor in tight races in az and fl. and his gains among white voters...particularly white voters without a college degree...looks like its putting states like mi, wi, and mn firmly in the blue column.

so maybe thats these crossover niggas sticking their head out.
13404978, yup. Lincoln Project voters need to show TF out.

That'd be huge if he can put those swing states in play and etch some of them. The numbers look good overall (but they did in 2016 too). What's your take on the fidelity of the election this year? I have serious concerns about election integrity and Trump trying to take every advantage to seize power amidst the chaos.

but the farmers market i go to is right over the border in pa and somewhat out in the boonies.

so i go through white burbs and then rural territory in pa to get there.

i knew we were prolly in for some shit when i hit a certain stretch in my trip and it was *all* trumped out. sides of the highway, houses, trucks, trailers, billboards, etc. i get some gas and niggas got on trump hats and t-shirts (not maga but the cheap local flea market type shit). it was such a vast difference from what i was seeing on cable news and social media that it almost seemed like a fantasy.

this time around...its a different story. you still got a lot of trump stuff but its less frequent and more muted. and i see some biden shit and signs like 'im republican but i aint stupid'.
13404957, LOL I hear you.
Posted by Brew, Thu Sep-24-20 08:21 PM
I'm from Boston and my wife and I went to Cape Cod a few weeks ago. I was fully expecting to see Trump shit everywhere. Afterall it's one of the prime summer vacation spots for rich-but-not-Nantucket-rich New Englanders.

So imagine my surprise when all I saw were Biden signs, a MASSIVE Biden flag at some place right on the water (got a dope video of that actually .. looked pretty cool), and "Cape Codders know that Black Lives Matter" and other BLM shit EVERYWHERE.

Unfortunately I don't have the same 2016 reference point to compare this year's experience with, but it was encouraging.

in the Obama years, about 2 miles up from my place I saw a sign outside someone's house that had on one side "SIN IS KILLING AMERICA" and on the other "OBAMA WILL DESTROY AMERICA". The Obama side of this sign is down.

Yet, also in the same area I saw a few Obama/Biden signs especially in 2012. People weren't really feeling Romney too tough though you would see "Mitt" and "Romney Ryan" shit ... pretty much the most you'd see them on this side of Cuyahoga.

Trump? ain't gotta go far from my house to see Trump flags and bullshit signs like "we support our police". there's this beautiful home nearby, owned by an asshole. During the '16 primaries, this motherfucker had HOME MADE Trump signs outside his home. Just a plain piece of white cardboard that said "TRUMP".

When the real shit came out, that motherfucker had 4 Trump/Pence signs in the lawn. Now? Trump/Pence sign on the lawn. Banner over the garage that says "Trump 2020: No More Bullshit" that looks like the official ones. I highly suspect the person that lives there is a local council person who is a Trumpeter and owns a media company doing the ads for the Black Repub challenger to the recently elected Black Dem representative (on some Harrison/Scott shit, that is wild given the history of this area). In any case, the motherfucker that lives there gotta be an insufferable man-child. That level of Trump ass licking is just .... not even the rednecks usually considered to be the face of Trumpism, bruh.

But dig this:

back in the end of MAY of this year, going down up the street even further into "Michael Jordan Approved" (read: No Niggas) territory, I started seeing Biden signs. Just "Biden for President". This was pre-running mate announcement.

By August, that number of Biden shit had doubled. I still see (and assume, mostly) Trump. But that's more than I ever saw for Obama.

Now around town, Biden/Harris signs popping up more often than not.

My immediate area was light blue (slight edge Hillary) in '16, which was a shock to me, since you only gotta go a few miles to the south and start seeing Trump shit.

These are prime "Biden" target voters. The strategy might work but it's still shaky.
13405396, I saw something like this in my hometown over the weekend.

I've been back there a couple of times recently and have consistently been encouraged by the amount of BLM and Biden/Harris signs I've been seeing. There's more of both everytime I'm back in town.

But on the same street where there are a lot of BLM/Biden signs, there's one house that is *littered* in Trump/MAGA shit. It's kinda pathetic. Like overdone Halloween decorations. Their front door is adorned with a concrete slab with like an arbor over it, two poles in front. Both poles have long TRUMP 2020 banners hanging top to bottom. Trump stickers all over each car in the driveway. Three Trump lawn signs, all huge.

These people *really* want everyone to know how racist they are.
13405942, that's the difference between Trump and past GOP candidates

Posted by walihorse, Mon Sep-28-20 11:49 AM
started last week.

Not a big deal, but made me really happy.

I have 2 older white neighbors. across the street he is 70, next door is 62.

I had ordered a Biden sign from the campaign right after Harris announcement. Took 4 weeks to arrive. I got inpatient and ordered one from Amazon got in 2 days later.

The day before the amazon sign came, the next door neighbor's wife stopped me as I was walking my dog to ask if I was doing any volunteer work. I mentioned the sign. She says her husband (voted for dumb dumb in 2016) doesn't want a sign because he is afraid someone will mess with it. (go figure) either way I tell her I am putting one up when it comes.

I put up my sign and a few days later front door neighbor asked when I got my sign cuz he wants to put one up (nice!) That day the official campaign one comes and I give him my old one, he asked to pay me for it, I said no, he instead donates the cost to the campaign (nice!), the day after he put his sign up, Next neighbor says she ordered hers too.

Now 3 of us have a sign. Nothing big, but it made my wife and I happy.

bonus, former trump voter neighbor says he will not vote for him this time. I hope so.

In North Carolina, Black Voters’ Mail-In Ballots Much More Likely to Be Rejected Than Those From Any Other Race

https://www.motherjones.com/2020-elections/2020/09/in-north-carolina-black-voters-mail-in-ballots-much-more-likely-to-be-rejected-than-those-from-any-other-race/

https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/nc-mail-in-voting-ballot-rejected-reason-2/83-75feed6a-1c35-43b5-9493-662543fda1bf

The mailed ballot rejection rate is now 4.3% for Black voters, compared to 1.1% for White voters.

As of Sunday, more than a million absentee ballots have been requested in NC, and about a quarter of those voters have bubbled in their 2020 election decision and returned their ballot. Of those ballots, about 54% are from Democrats, 16% are from Republicans, and about 30% are from unaffiliated voters.

The early voting data from the N.C. State Board of Elections is compiled and analyzed on the site “U.S. Elections Project,” which is maintained by a Political Science Professor at the University of Florida, Michael McDonald, PhD.

Of the ballots returned, 1.8% of them have been rejected, and the most common reason is a problem with the witness requirement, where someone must watch you place the ballot in the envelope, then print their name and address with a signature. By state law, N.C. election officials must follow up with these voters whose ballots were rejected.

Other reasons ballots are rejected include: the voter did not sign the envelope, the ballot was damaged, or the address line was left blank.

The whole witness thing is bullshit. What if you live alone in a rural area?
