13403712, It shouldn't be this hard to connect a wireless printer!!
Posted by PimpTrickGangstaClik, Wed Sep-16-20 10:00 AM
I'm trying to connect my printer to a new network, and they got me doing to hokey pokey with all the button pushes.
Hold this button for 22 seconds while unplugging the power cord. Press the power button to the rhythm of the Beverly Hills Cop song.

I googled and got to a 13 page discussion on the HP forum on this question with no straight answers.
An HP representative is answering each question saying "I will send you a private message with instructions" WTF???

I'm imagining the rep hitting one of these when he/she typed it: https://tenor.com/view/home-alone2-smiling-gif-8688663
13403734, it really shouldn't....been there. and it's one of the reasons I HATE having

to hard reset my router whenever my network starts bugging...which fortunately hasn't happened in a while.....

13403740, Tried to print something on our wireless printer. Made me angry AF
Posted by flipnile, Wed Sep-16-20 11:44 AM
I quit. Still didn't print out what I need. What irked me is that is was ALREADY set up on my lady's computer, but just didn't work, talking about 'connection errors.'

Wish I never threw away my old school LPT port dot matrix printer. Was noisy as hell, only printed text well, and only in dark gray but the ink ribbon lasted forever and it worked every single time.

:(
13403760, Is it the physical distance?
Posted by MEAT, Wed Sep-16-20 12:36 PM
I always move whatever product I have right next to the router before doing it. They almost always "remember" the connection when they get moved.

Unlike the Black-Ass Printer, the WAP never runs low on toner without someone replacing it, always has the right size paper and doesn't have a queue of un-printed job dating back a few months.
13403826, lol yo. someone write this.

13403745, I just got a new HP laser printer
Posted by sectachrome86, Wed Sep-16-20 11:59 AM
This is my last fucking printer. Laser printers are supposed to be fine if you hardly ever use them and wont clog up like the inkjet one I had. If there's an issue with it thats it, Im never buying a printer again. Printers are the shittiest piece of technology. It's like even the people designing the software/hardware for them hate them so much they can barely expend any effort.
13403747, and what's the deal with them all requiring a weird web based interface??
Posted by FLUIDJ, Wed Sep-16-20 12:05 PM

Like you gotta log off of your wifi, then connect to them as an access point and then go to some random IP address to get into their settings...JUST to set the wireless access/wireless printing capability???

Ever try walking a non-techie person through THAT shit???

13403751, Bruh...I just did that step. Not one part of it went right

Finally got my device to connect to the printer. Got a test page to print out with the IP address.

Thought I was on my way home. Until...."This site can not be reached"
I'm moderately tech savvy. But this some other stuff.

13403772, Somehow I knew this was an HP printer
Posted by Airbreed, Wed Sep-16-20 01:41 PM
they're known to have terrible wifi connectivity.

Especially with Apple devices.

and their driver updates are useless.

those printers are trash.

13403835, I bought a Brother laser printer
Posted by Rjcc, Wed Sep-16-20 10:05 PM
and I stopped having those issues

like dude said above, they're just more reliable and really not much more expensive

I have the HL-L2395DW

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
13403849, That's the one I have, it's been good to me..

and the ink cartridge can last me at least 6 months...

I do have an ink jet on standby (Brother) in case I need color (or if I need to scan, since it has that 3 in 1 capability (print, scan, fax))
