13403175, Fun pilot.

I enjoyed it. I'm not sure how long the premise will stick, but I thought it was fun.
13403176, It’s a show and not a movie?

Whack.
13403199, Only watched one ep, I'm positive... but how long will this schtick work

13403222, I'm loving it so far. (3 episodes in)

The pilot was excellent, and I don't get to say that often.

I love the internal debate he's having as a creative on how to focus his work.

And the conversation him and his boy/roomate had about suddenly becoming "woke" was great.

AND, I laughed out loud at the Do The Right Thing moment.
13403225, 2 episodes in and it's straight so far. I'm pleasantly surprised. n/m

13403852, I have HULU now thanks to VZW. Watched Ep.1 last night. Shit's goodt!
Posted by FLUIDJ, Thu Sep-17-20 07:37 AM
13403853, VZW??? How you do that?
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Sep-17-20 07:55 AM
phone or home?

I have a free year of Disney+ so the bundle for +, ESPN+ and Hulu is only 6.99 a month.

Rarely use ESPN+ but we abuse the other 2 services.
13403854, I moved up to the Get More Unlimited plan. It was $10/more than
Posted by FLUIDJ, Thu Sep-17-20 08:26 AM
the Do More Unlimited plan that I was on.
Ends being a wash for me almost....
Either pay Apple $10/month for Apple Music....or pay VZW $10 more/month and get Apple Music & Hule & Disney+ & ESPN(don't watch sports so ESPN isn't a draw for me really)...
The rub is that I gotta put the wife on her own Apple Music plan now instead of having her on the Apple Music Family plan...so that's $10 directly to Apple....

Our free year of Disney+ was set to expire end of the month...so we def. can't go without that....

It think all in i'm probably saving around $10 though...

13403371, It's better than average

Without seeing any myself, I'd bet vulture and various review sites said it's messy, all over the place and didn't know which story it wants to tell.
I liked it. Entirely binge-able. At least one of the episodes is only 20 minutes.
Lamorne is good. New Girl wrote Winston as a loser for a while, but it's like he acted through that to get to a decent character, so to see him here with a fully formed character rose him in my ranks of Black leads.
His roommates were great.
By the 5th-ish ep, the talking objects were sidelined and I appreciated it until they came back. JB Smoove did a HORRIBLE job opening for EW&F and he SUUUUUUCKED, so I would have preferred a different voice there.
Also, watching the Harley Quinn cartoon made me think of Dr Psycho every time Tony Hale spoke.
Pleased to see Sasheer Zameda not going the way of Denitra Vance.

S1: solid B
13403685, As a black man who lived in SF for 10 years...I like this show a lot.

i am also a creative.

I lived in SF because I was an LA dude who liked the city and I badly wanted to get out of LA. I finished undergrad there and just hung the fuck out. I was there from 2003 to 2015.

I like that SF is the backdrop but I don't think they fully captured the angst that comes with being a black person in the city. They do capture the idea that to live and thrive there you have to be built a bit differently to just be aight with being the only black person at pretty much all the places.

It's funny, I love the cameos. I am annoyed by the inconsistent locations, it will go from being in SF to being in some other area that is totally not SF. It itches the brain the way Suits is supposed to be in NYC while actually being shot in Canada and if you know NYC then you will constantly be saying "thats not the city, none of this is the city"
13404041, Finished the 1st season. This is a solid show.

13404180, I'm three eps in and I love it

I cried.
13405355, Glad the season is only 8 episodes long.
Posted by Numba_33, Mon Sep-28-20 09:39 AM
Perfect length so that the show doesn't get too stale. Also happy that the show didn't mine the talking comics aspect the further the season went. Wonder how long it'll take for season two to get filmed given that COVID-19 is more of a problem compared to when the show started.
