13402887, I've Been Using Mini-Discs To Record My Music Since 1999...

...when Sony came out with the bundle package for the MDS-JE320 ( http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JE320.html )with the portable MZ-E40 ( http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-E20+E40.html ) which I bought from Best Buy for $300.

I got almost 100 mini-discs full of beats, mixes, & music I've transferred from vinyl, this thing was ahead of it's time, better than a cd-burner if you ask me, making mixes with it was waaayyy better than recording to cassette; I just wished I had waited for the model with digital out on it, cause burning music from mini-disc to cd was a pain.

Anyway I've been having tons of trouble with it for the past few years but the deck finally stopped working earlier this year, the last thing I used to record with it was the beats off my beat-tape I put out last year.

13402889, yeah i'm still feeling it out but i love this format

hate i wasn't really around for it or at least old enough to be interested

the process of recording is so much better than tape and CD, imo. I need to get something with an optical out so i can just let it split the tracks for me.
13402895, i was cleaning and found my old minidisc player.....

I only do 2-3 days a week so I'm not as dedicated as I could be. My current job we do a type of programming but the platform is company specific. What I'm trying to learn now are the basics and we'll see where it goes
13402898, Minidisc is similar to Blu-Ray in the sense that it was too good too late

amazing technology that arrived a few years too late.

13402901, bought all the parts to build an arcade cabinet...

Pretty much changing anything that doesn’t need to be soldered.
13402912, i thought i was going to start back making beats

borrowed some equipment from a friend, bought a desk to do it at, started learning a DAW

then the playoffs started...
13403007, I used to LOVE my mini-disc!!!!
Posted by KnowOne, Wed Sep-09-20 02:22 PM
dont know why the format didnt blow up bigger. Guess it was too clsoe to the ipod revolution.
13403058, it was just late
Posted by hardware, Wed Sep-09-20 07:35 PM
and you had to license the tech from sony

whereas tapes and CDs were cheaper to produce from more manufacturers
13403346, Nothing this week cause I’m on vacation
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Sep-12-20 09:30 AM
but I’ve been landscaping the front yard to save money.

Next week tho, I start learning animation.

It's pretty fun to fly.

I'm also down a bit of a Minidisc hole myself. I had one back in high school and loved it, but then I found out last year that people were putting out limited edition releases on MD like they do on cassette. I copped a player off eBay and have been buying albums on the format since then.

Now I have two portables (Sony MZ-707 and Sony MZ-E75) and like 15 albums lol.
13403385, i have a Sharp 821
Posted by hardware, Sat Sep-12-20 06:32 PM
i just got it for recording really and for listening to music for aesthetic purposes in the house after i bought some really really good earbuds

mostly city pop. lol. i wanna get a nicer looking one that's player only.
13403440, Yeah, the player only ones are pretty dope.

Mine uses a gumstick battery so it's a lot more slim than my recorder that runs on a double A batteries.
