and wrote "7/31" on it, then glanced at a ticket on the line to see it was 8/1 and kinda muttered, "fuck, it's already an 8 instead of a 7?" and one of the line cooks cracked how he'd been doing it all day and was probably going to do it for another couple, and without missing a beat I hit him back with: "I'm more annoyed by how much closer to the death of the service industry August makes me feel, but I guess wasting some tape sucks too" and Charlie Brown'd my way back to front of house.
