I’m not sure if we discussed that already back in the day but yeah. One of the producers I recorded with lived in Philly and I remember recording at a studio there and going to a beat battle that I took footage of. I should find a clip and post it here to see if you recognize any of the folks hosting or competing. I always wanted to move to Philly but never did and am somewhat grateful I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong I had great times but they were also dark and in the end it seems like a distraction from a path that would have or could have been much more productive. Seeing people trying to duplicate what was done back then today is either sad or counterfeit. If my children were interested in music I would certainly tell them to tap into it but not as a career. I wasted a lot of time back then which is why I think I don’t even write anymore now. It makes me sad when people play my old music. It really makes me sad.
