13397076, A sister on Twitter talked about how

even though many of us on OKP knew these dudes weren't shit for the longest, even she didn't think of Common or Black Thought when she thought of misogyny and rape culture in hip-hop. They were all shielded by their Black power rhetoric. I was a bit young to really be in the mix back then, but I went to a lot of shows. I saw and felt things that made me uncomfortable, but could never really put my finger on it. I see the same ugliness from men in academia and in my political work and they usually get away with it.

I feel so badly for Jaguar, Flo Brown...even Jill and Erykah. Patriarchy/misogyny really needs to be understood by our entire community as a form of white supremacist oppression. Men really think that they have a right to a woman's body (and everything else). It's SO pervasive.
