Reading the replies, I'm thinking, "I mean how bad is it really?"
I'm 23 minutes into this and it's really fucking bad. I don't know if it's all fair to say or believe - like that she made Okayplayer for example, but the toxic culture she was very obviously a part of is heartbreaking. I think everyone knew the Me Too movement would come for hip hop eventually...but I didn't see The Roots being part of that.
In terms of the Malik B stuff...well, having a friend or family member who's an addict is just such a tough thing. I can't imagine having someone who is a business partner - it just adds another layer to how tough navigating that can be. What might be seen as turning your back on someone actually might be helping them. But I can't really disagree with how Jaguar feels...she was there, I wasn't.
It's all just so fucking sad.
