Kim has a point about how much our "compassion" for mental health issues is in the abstract. On an individual level, we tend to judge people by moral standards that are "ableist" to some extent.

Like in this thread, someone shared the opinion that Kanye's misogyny isn't the result of his mental illness. There may be an argument there, but I find it interesting that we would seek to put aspects of one's personality outside the influence of their mental illness, for presumably moral reasons. We can't really *know* what a non-bipolar Kanye would be like, can we?

However, a majoryly complicating factor with Kanye is his platform and political statements. I think people are walking a difficult tightrope between having compassion for a person's mental health issues on one hand, vs. needing to object to Kanye's crazier stances due to the influence he has.
