is that trump spent years being a conservative cultural warrior (birtherism, etc) and right wing media fixture to the point of being almost a folk hero to the republican political base. even mitt romney had to basically kiss the ring and seek trumps endorsement for the romney campaign in 2012. trump developed a strong relationship with repub voters before he ran.

kanye has spent the last few years just pissing people off (politically). he has no real base. his consumer base is overwhelmingly liberal but theyre obviously turned off by most shit he says/does.
