Kanye dropped his first listenable track in 4+ years. And he dropped it on schedule, no less.
13391276, fuck kanye though

13391288, Damn.

13391289, that russian connection is a stretch.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Jun-30-20 10:28 AM
and yall know id be the first to call it out if there was something there.

russians using him in a disinfo campaign doesnt mean hes a willing agent (they use a lot of unassociated people to polarize us on a wide range of issues).

and him meeting with that russian fashion designer is pretty yawn worthy. in fact post soviet youth arts/culture in the russian metros is notably non-pro-putin as far as i can tell.

im open to other information/suggestions if anybody got anything...but i just dont see it. like not even suspicious.

13391296, Kanye being bouyed by Russian money isn't a stretch
Posted by MEAT, Tue Jun-30-20 10:45 AM
Disinformation ... I'll give you
I'm just illuminating more reasons to say fuck Kanye.
13391331, its a stretch if theres zero evidence or even suggestive/anecdotal data.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Jun-30-20 11:11 AM
kanye going to russia and getting bailed out of debt with no link to any financier/oligarch or banking institution is just lazy narration.

not only is it lazy...its nonsensical when you look at the evidence we *do* have available.

he was reportedly about $50 mil in debt (even tho this was never confirmed...he just said it). now hes reportedly worth over a billion. and thats overwhelmingly made up of his estimated yeezy/adidas stake. $50 mil is a fraction of that (1/20). he personally earned an estimated $150 mil alone last year from that deal.

so thats how he went from $50 mil in debt to a billionaire. all of this is pretty public and out in the open lol.

its not like hes running some sketchy operation. its one of the most high profile apparel partnerships in the world.

but being bailed out by shady russians doesnt sound as exciting as being bailed out by sneaker sales i guess.

13391359, This my narrative and I'm hugging it until it's true
Posted by MEAT, Tue Jun-30-20 11:28 AM
Everyone gets one.
13391372, lol

13391298, Do you have a Google Alert set for Kanye?
Posted by MEAT, Tue Jun-30-20 10:45 AM
Non Blacks really want absolution for Kanye. Leave us to dunk on him for whatever reasons we want

You can still wear his goofy ass cult clothes and tunes because it's the closest proxy to Blackness that you still have.
13391383, this is the most hilariously agro reply I've had in a while, thanks man

13391280, lol. "first listenable track in 4+ years" kanye never left, he just changed
Posted by double negative, Tue Jun-30-20 09:55 AM
Gotta come to grips with the fact that he hasnt been "ours" in over a decade.

dude dropped, what, two gospel albums since 'Ye'? I havent listened to any of that stuff because I know it aint for me, but still, those albums tracked hard which means someone else is listening and enjoying it.

JK, one love to all
13391374, it's basically just showing our whole culture
Posted by Crash Bandacoot, Tue Jun-30-20 11:42 AM
there is nothing new about this. cool beat.
13391380, Did someone give the impression it was something new?
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-30-20 12:02 PM
13391400, that's the impression
Posted by Crash Bandacoot, Tue Jun-30-20 12:48 PM
that i get from him. isn't kanye supposed to be a musical genius?
loved when he first came out. beat is cool but, nothing new.
13391401, this is actually a good point.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Jun-30-20 12:56 PM
>that i get from him. isn't kanye supposed to be a musical
>genius?
>loved when he first came out. beat is cool but, nothing new.

dude is supposedly a musical genius but the best compliment i see about this song is that it sounds like something from an album he released 7 years ago.

(that also happens to be the album where most people would say he started falling off)
13391416, Musical genius? Says who? Kanye
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-30-20 01:59 PM
He’s just a nigga who makes music.

Shit ain’t that deep.

Not sure why we always have to go there when discussing rappers/producers.

For me, I don’t need new.. I just need it to sound good.
13391419, pretty much...all this genius shit is for clicks...lol...
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Jun-30-20 02:02 PM

"Get ready....for your blessing....."
"Bury me by my Grand-Grand and when you can come follow me"
13391426, I get the anger over the Trump shit
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-30-20 02:38 PM
but these people talking musical genius are hilarious. They really bought that shit and now they are mad because he’s just a rap producer who found a few dope samples.

Don’t get me wrong.. I fux with his early stuff but that’s all I want is a return to the rap shit. I don’t need buzz light year new shit.

“Bring back the old Kanye”

and I still stand by my earlier prediction. Kanye our here trolling for attention. He was just at a rally for George Floyd in Chicago and donated 2 Mill to the families of victims. Dude about to be BLM cause it’s trending.

Dude just jumps on whatever is hot at the moment and rides that wave til the next one comes.
13391525, "whole" culture? Nah.
Posted by flipnile, Wed Jul-01-20 09:25 AM
Nowhere close.
13391389, definitely best thing he's done a while, even if it's a Yeezus retread
Posted by Tiger Woods, Tue Jun-30-20 12:19 PM
aesthetically - both visual and audible - it reverts back to Yeezus in a huge way. But I love Yeezus, so I like this. Will still be stunned if the album is good.
13391417, hmmmmmm....
Posted by Birdzeye, Tue Jun-30-20 02:00 PM
I'm not too sure where Kanye is going with this one. The video looked like some right wing racist propaganda..

The kind of thing that white people on Facebook send as a counter to BLM. Maybe I'm wrong, but that was my takeaway...

And I'm not feeling that line of thinking. Particularly as I've been recently hearing the retort 'it's not your skin, it's your sin' in relation to the plight of Black people.
13391430, its art / entertainment. Travis Scott is onboard. Dont read 2 much into it
Posted by Bambino Grande, Tue Jun-30-20 02:53 PM
13391505, who’s crazier? Ye or the people who believe him when he talks
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jul-01-20 07:00 AM
13391511, So trollvis scott did the super bowl and all is forgiven?

No matter what he does.
13391537, Meaning of video
Posted by , Wed Jul-01-20 09:43 AM
Copied from a youtube comment -

"The Black man in the video is portraying Kanye's vision of God/Black Jesus. The random clips in the video is what God sees happening within the Black community whether it's police brutality, "black on black" violence, covid-19, mass incarceration etc. The waves you see are actually chains representing the oceans slaves jumped into to escape slavery & it represents us still being enslaved mentally. GTA gameplay represents us being in a "simulation", & the end with the cars doing donuts are people enjoying the chaos that's going on until it gets too close to them. Video is genius."

another comment-

"Travis Scott: Hey Kanye, how many bars you want me to drop?
Kanye: No"

anyway, I dug it.

werd.
