Maybe it's something like that. Maybe he noticed he was outworking a few brothers that he felt had the same opportunities and in his mind he became a special negro. I know some otherwise good people that express themselves like that in real life. Folks that openly make reference to being religious but are way more judgmental than their religious beliefs say they should be.
