13387078, re-watching Game of Thrones...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-03-20 01:30 PM
how was Arya not crowned queen at the end? she literally saved everybody.

I know she probably would've declined it but was it even proposed?

She was a bad chick, when she murked Littlefinger was probably my favorite scene of the series lol.
13387081, We rewatched but haven’t made it to the last season
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jun-03-20 01:47 PM
That might be on purpose.. lol.

I think after all that went down the last thing they want is a trained assassin with a temper on the Throne.

She wouldn’t want that shit anyways.

13387083, Who would’ve made a good Hand of the Queen for her?
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-03-20 01:53 PM
13387113, The Raven
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jun-03-20 03:24 PM
13387084, Bran rigged it.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Jun-03-20 01:59 PM
13387114, He didn't do shit on the group project but got all the credit.
Posted by Nopayne, Wed Jun-03-20 03:27 PM
13387153, I honestly don't understand how she didn't die by the end...
Posted by Af-1, Wed Jun-03-20 07:16 PM
I watched the last two seasons waiting for someone to stab her when she least expected it and for that person to take off their face revealing themselves as Jaqen H'ghar who'd say something like "A girl has spat in the face of the Many Faced God...". How she betrayed them with no comebacks was baffling to me.
13387154, I thought they did come after her once and stabbed her I don’t...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-03-20 07:25 PM
remember off the top of my head if it was him or the girl and they stabbed her and she jumped in the water and was nursed back to health by the lady she was supposed to kill and and they came back killed her and Arya got away I need to go back and watch that part but I think when she got back to Westeros she was safe
13387155, That was how she initially escapes...
Posted by Af-1, Wed Jun-03-20 07:48 PM
but I didn't think it would end there. Their reach was so far I don't see how they didn't come for her. She betrayed them and totally got away with it.
13387157, Agreed but was just 1 of several logical conclusions from the show...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-03-20 08:33 PM
that didn’t add up lol
13387196, Not sure she totally got away with it if they stabbed her up
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Jun-04-20 09:28 AM
They tried to get at her..

13387326, RE: Not sure she totally got away with it if they stabbed her up
Posted by Af-1, Fri Jun-05-20 05:27 AM
Well they're assassins with a moral code. She used them, betrayed them and escaped and they didn't come for her. The whole point of being an assassin is to finish the job not just do a bit of it. It was her perfect ending for me anyway - Jaqen shocking everyone with the kill out of the blue.
13387177, You'd be better off reading the books
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Jun-04-20 01:30 AM
Even if he never finishes em, at least you won't be stuck with that horse shit ending.
13387190, I love the series with all of its flaws and the characters and actors.
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Jun-04-20 08:46 AM
13387199, You know...I just realized why the ending was so fucking horrible.
Posted by double negative, Thu Jun-04-20 09:51 AM
they didnt take a stand. it was an ending to satisfy everyone so in the end no side said "fuck yeah!" and no counter side said "that was bullshit" instead EVERYONE said "well...that...was something. meh."
13387201, which I blame Martin for.
Posted by will_5198, Thu Jun-04-20 09:56 AM
he gave them the ending template years ago, while later covering his own ass (my books may be different, this is just the show ending!).

after A Storm of Swords, Martin kept expanding his narrative with a ton of peripheral characters and arcs that he seemingly has writer's block trying to wrap up. never mind finishing the original story in a meaningful way.
13387200, you say that like A Dance with Dragons didn't suck too though
Posted by Jay Doz, Thu Jun-04-20 09:55 AM
13387204, IIRC The only thing I really didn't like about ADWD was
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Jun-04-20 10:07 AM
that one pointless ass character they added.
13387262, I don’t mind it
Posted by makaveli, Thu Jun-04-20 02:53 PM
Definitely like book 4 better.
13387263, the ending was so bad
Posted by makaveli, Thu Jun-04-20 02:54 PM
I’m almost through re reading book one. Starks made so many mistakes.
13387266, is Ned just as dumb in the books?
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Jun-04-20 03:35 PM
last time i re-watched it really stood out just how frustratingly dumb he was.
13387300, Yes
Posted by makaveli, Thu Jun-04-20 08:18 PM
Probably even dumber, just all about honor and trying to do what’s right. Considering how his father and brother died, he did not learn much from it. But it’s not just him, Cat and Rob both make terrible mistakes. Sansa is so awful in the beginning.
13387301, Yeah, the Starks aren't very bright overall
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Jun-04-20 08:46 PM
Ned trying to reign in Tywin, or Trust Cersei to skip town, and a bunch of other things all while never shutting up about honor

Ned to his credit wouldn't have dissed the Frey girl but I assume if Rob did marry her it would just make it easier for Tywin to get him through the Freys.

Cat was dumb. Rickon was dumb (as evidenced by his running) Sansa got wiser as she grew up but it took a lot of suffering to get her there. Arya was the only smart one.
13387306, Game 7 of the NBA Finals-ass Starks

13387312, Ned on the show was a weird dude, he couldn’t lie to save his own head...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Jun-04-20 11:10 PM
But lied to his wife for 20 years about his sister’s baby.

Then how did Rob think that shit would work out? And that totally went against the “Stark code of honor”.

And Catelyn was a special kind of dumb.

Sansa ended up being one of my favorite by the end the show.
13387317, I hated Sansa.. never understood why people road for her
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Jun-04-20 11:17 PM
I know she had a shitty life for a while but she also liked shitty dudes and basically had her dad murdered and a few wolves killed over that punk Jeffrey.
13387323, she was a rich girl with dumb parents
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jun-05-20 03:15 AM
she went from a fairy tale life where everyone kissed her ass, to everyone torturing her.

it took a few years of hard living to develop street smarts but she got there.

>I know she had a shitty life for a while but she also liked
>shitty dudes and basically had her dad murdered and a few
>wolves killed over that punk Jeffrey.
13387345, She had more growth than any character on the show
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-05-20 08:06 AM
13387362, because she was a POS as a kid
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Jun-05-20 09:03 AM
I’m sorry but I’m not applauding her for being a brat and offering herself up to shifty kings because she had a thirst for power.
13387394, She was basically kidnapped and her father was beheaded then she...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-05-20 11:16 AM
was passed around to different people like property until she finally escaped and made it back home.

WTF else was she supposed to do?
13387427, Maybe I need to go back and rewatch but I seem to remember her
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Jun-05-20 12:42 PM
helping set things in motion early on because she wanted to be with Jeffrey.

I have no sympathy for Sansa.

I just don’t like her.
13387458, Yes you do.
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-05-20 03:30 PM
13387357, Actually 2 of Neds kids ended up ruling so overall the Starks made out
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-05-20 08:42 AM
13387314, Honestly I thought overall The Long Night Episode was bad too...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Jun-04-20 11:14 PM
too many people lived that should’ve died.
13387324, exactly.
Posted by Rjcc, Fri Jun-05-20 03:56 AM

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
13387335, like ALL of the Dothraki, Jamie, Brienne, Tormund, Grey Worm...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-05-20 07:33 AM
basically anybody that wasn't in the crypt or riding a dragon. Everyone that was out there with the foot soldiers on the front lines but miraculously got back in the castle was bs lol.
13387363, too many people at the bottom of those piles survived.
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Jun-05-20 09:05 AM
but it’s no different than Braveheart or other movies about war. The key characters are going to survive.
13387387, agreed
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jun-05-20 10:55 AM
I mean it was some hardcore shit watching the dothraki basically get swallowed up and go extinct... but even that moment becomes trash when you find out a week later the dothraki grew back

As many people got killed they played it safe. The episode before that where they're all hanging out getting drunk the night before was better
13387395, Could have been one of the greatest shows of all time
Posted by Vector, Fri Jun-05-20 11:18 AM
But that last season spoiled things so much I can't watch it again.

I watched it all the way through again when we were at season 5 and it was a real pleasure. Caught so much of what I missed the first time and many scenes had that added significance when you know what was going to happen later.
13387401, Same, I rewatched before the last season
Posted by sectachrome86, Fri Jun-05-20 11:22 AM
When I think about how it ended it spoils any desire I have to watch it again. I kind of want to rewatch all those dark ass episodes on my new OLED though.
13387403, As FANTASTIC as this show was, ending ruined its legacy
Posted by Bambino Grande, Fri Jun-05-20 11:34 AM

The last season is always gonna leave a stain. Like the above poster said, those last eps cancel out any thirst for a rewatch

13387405, the shitty landing doesn't ruin it all for me
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jun-05-20 11:43 AM
or make the early seasons any less enjoyable.

i never cared about the white walkers and any of the supernatural stuff (except for dragons) so the way it played out i could care less.

nothing necessarily happened that wasn't supposed to, it just all felt sloppy and rushed, which is more unfortunate because everything outside of the writing in the last season was still amazing.

story wsise it went from books to the first paragraph on a wiki page. travelling that took a whole season suddenly took 10 minutes. it was all pretty jarring and disappointing, but i'll still always love the show.

13387418, I think it would have been better without the white walkers
Posted by Vector, Fri Jun-05-20 12:27 PM
Take that part out and it would have been possible to create an incredible show. Difficult, I know, because they are integral to the whole arc but it may have been better without that distraction.
13387455, yeah, they're a part of everything
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jun-05-20 03:27 PM
i didn't mind how the stories and characters played off them, but the walkers as a whole were pretty uninteresting. They were just zombies with a couple extra details. The night king was pretty boring too. you could only do so much with a mute super villain.

>Take that part out and it would have been possible to create
>an incredible show. Difficult, I know, because they are
>integral to the whole arc but it may have been better without
>that distraction.
13387426, I’m rewatching and it’s a great show
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Jun-05-20 12:40 PM
True, they didn’t stick the landing but it’s still a very entertaining show.

I’m not on the last season yet but it’s going to be interesting rewatching it.

I’m also not as invested as most so I don’t care about every little fucking detail or story arc being completed.
13387459, i sometimes radnomly watch the kings landing invasion
Posted by Mynoriti, Fri Jun-05-20 03:31 PM
i just find it really satisfying how Drogon rips through everything so easily

before they start killing civilians anyway.
