Pretty sure that civil war would start immediately if we got reparations.

Too lazy to do the math on if we took that 1200 that went to every American and instead sent it to black America as reparations.

Which is very flawed. If it lived up to its name, it would include job guarantees, free tuition, talk therapy, etc. It would *repair* what slavery, Jim Crow, and all these years of marginalization did to descendants of slavery. So much more than a check.

remember 40 acres and a mule? it was going to pass and was shot down
by a racist president. all they had to do was pass that and some of
this could have been mended but no. and here we are today 2020 with
so many more problems.

They will never give us land.

My wife is from a small port town outside of Wilmington. It was mostly a Black port. When Black folk owned land on the water it was labeled high risk, bad soil.. you couldn’t build on it.

Once they sold it to white folk all a sudden the land was valuable and you could build on it. My wife’s fam built a ton of houses and some of them still own farms.

i mean, disenfranchising black people of land/home ownership was one of the worst things this country ever did to black americans.

that's automatic generational wealth even if you have no other assets.

Exactly... the premise of the post aka title was lifted from another place as I stated, and I stated let’s discuss. I just don’t want you to think I think reparations is simply a bullshit check... or casinos. However, the title of the post shows that they can do these things. Will there be consequences with the yahoo standard mindset of white folks.. yeah. But so what? However, it will never happen but my point is It IS possible but just won’t happen due to inherent racism.

I mean... I think it shows that they could've done SOMEthing. A legit breakdown of how much reparations would cost is much higher than the cost of stimulus checks tho. If done properly, that would be to the tune of 8.4 trillion while they spent considerably less on stimulus checks at 290 billion.

Then spent the rest of their time making sure that anyone that receives reparations doesn't get any government assistance of any kind and also can't get an abortion

Slavery, Jim Crow, the war on drugs, systemic racial targeting via direct and indirect methods etc etc... all need to be paid for.

We're talking countless decades of intentional harm inflicted upon one community. Tangible resources are a start but not the end. Get rid of this diversity minority bullshit too. Every social/ethnic culture can fight their own battles and stop using my community. Add that to reparations package.

I interpreted it as him saying the reasoning within the responses is the why we won't get it... reasoning such as, it would cost much more, white folks would flip out, it would have to include a lot more than a check, etc.

Maybe that isn't what he was saying, but that's what thought he was saying at least.

We don't have to agree on the particulars, we don't have to do the maths, all we have to do is advocate for it and ask for it to be pushed forward.
