13366973, Plane Warz: How badly would you beat this man?

Because as far as I’m concerned that’s the only option:

13366975, The seat is designed to recline, so she can recline if she wants

If it is causing him pain or discomfort, then I think the decent thing to do would be to compromise somehow. But she definitely doesn't have to.

I don't what you can do about the guy pushing the seat. Do the flight attendants have any authority on this?

13366984, The flight attendant gave him a rum on the house & apologized

13366982, He's got 20-30 seconds before I'd completely snap on him

Going for the choke / head bang.

We can yell at other other all day and I won't lose my cool, but that kinda passive aggressive shit makes me think of one thing: putting a top to it... immediately.

This is one of those situations I'd be pissed-enough to throw the cape on for.

Edit: Shit like this *never* happens to me tho. I'm a big dude, and people look for easier targets. Kinda why it pisses me off so much. I hate bullies.
13366985, Wait, there are people who think reclining your seat is rude?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Feb-13-20 10:43 AM
F that. Be mad at the airline industry, be mad at your seat. Chairs recline, so you have a right to use them.

There's a level of common courtesy involved, in other words if the person behind me was in the last row and couldn't recline, and politely asked me not to recline I'd probably oblige just cuz I like to think of myself as a reasonable human.

But if I reclined and someone just started punching my chair, all that reasonableness goes out the window.

13367070, But also if youre in that seat
Posted by sectachrome86, Thu Feb-13-20 01:29 PM
You either didn't plan ahead enough to get a better one, or didn't way to pay the extra fee to choose your seat if youre on one of those stupid airlines. Why should someone else be inconvenienced because of your cheapness or lack of foresight? If youre in that seat you just have to accept your fate and live with it for a few hours. Do better next time.
13367073, He's also in an aisle seat... he could always put his feet a bit in the aisle
Posted by flipnile, Thu Feb-13-20 01:32 PM
That's what I do when I can't get those exit-row seats.
13367091, No doubt. Like I said it's all in the approach.
Posted by Brew, Thu Feb-13-20 02:14 PM
If that person asked me in a sheepish, conciliatory, almost-embarrassed-about-it tone then I would more likely than not oblige the request, or at least decline from reclining to the full extent.

But if there's even a *hint* of annoyance in the person's voice, like it's my fault somehow, I'm unlikely to oblige and most likely to tell them to go fuck themselves in so many words.

13367066, I hardly ever recline my seat anyway
Posted by sectachrome86, Thu Feb-13-20 01:26 PM
But I'm about to go max recline on my next flight just to spite the "RECLINING IS MURDER" people.

Edit: I dont know why I replied to you, my bad

13367083, eh. too easy. torture, motherfucker
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Feb-13-20 01:49 PM
He gets tied to a chair, and anyone she wants to invite to join, gets a block of time equivalent to that of the flight to hit him continually in the face with a whiffle ball bat.

Bonus: he gets blindfolded so he can't brace for impact.
13367081, her seat doesn't look like it's invading his personal space much at all
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Feb-13-20 01:44 PM
It doesn't look like an inconvenience or encroachment on him.
13367084, I wouldn't recline if I was in her seat.
Posted by dagu, Thu Feb-13-20 01:57 PM
If I was in his I would probably be annoyed but more in a "fuck my life" type of way. I most likely wouldn't say anything to her because I'm generally in such a shitty mood when flying anyway that the added annoyance of a seat reclining into my face wouldn't move the needle much.

I do feel like I get irrationally angry when I see people recline before takeoff though. It's weird.
13367090, it looks like a very slight recline from this angle. is that really FML?
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Feb-13-20 02:12 PM
I can see slight annoyance, but that shit doesn't look like anything that warrants "fuck my life" levels of fate.

I'm pretty equal opportunity when it comes to assholes dealing with other assholes. I don't really see this as anything to be bothered by.

Now if her headrest was right in his face, I could at least see an issue, but this looks like nothing.
13367137, The airline experience is not one that I enjoy at all.
Posted by dagu, Thu Feb-13-20 06:37 PM
In general I would already be in a shitty mood before she even put her seat down so it wouldn't take her putting it in my face to make me feel worse. In no way am I advocating assholery though.

13367161, he's in the wrong. for sure.
Posted by PROMO, Thu Feb-13-20 11:35 PM
i mean, even with her seat reclined it sure doesn't look like she's in his space, not enough that he can't do what he's doing.

he seems like a bitch though. if that was a man he wouldn't be doing that shit.
13367165, Beyond dude's fucked up actions, fuck the airlines
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Feb-14-20 02:08 AM
Used to be that you could recline your chair and not be completely in the shit of the passenger behind you. Airlines have long been eliminating personal space and legroom so that they could squeeze more and more rows as tight as possible. Since Sept. 11, they've been turning planes into glorified cattle cars.
