13365756, Austin Texas and Nashville Tenn recommendations

Anyone got any? Leaning towards going to one. Austin is cheaper, so that is my preference. No car, so anything has to be within or close to city limits. Going 2/17-2/19.
13365773, I just returned from spending 2 weeks in Austin for work....

Austin is a GREAT city. It was my first time going and I definitely will be going back with the family.

I didn't have a car for the entire duration but I was able to get around easily just walking and taking Uber.

I was on the UT Campus at the executive conference center, so I guess that's pretty central?

Here's where I ate:
http://thebeerplant.com/ <<< ate here 2 times...it was THAT good.
https://arloscurbside.com/ <<< ate here 2 time too....it was THAT good and convenient.
https://claypit.com/ <<< ate here 1 time.. It was decent.
https://homeslicepizza.com/ <<<ate here 1 time. It's on the main strip of Congress Ave. which I guess is like the main tourist strip. I walked from UT campus all the way and took in all the sights along the way. It was a perfect pitstop after a long walk.
Whole Foods <<< you GOTTA go to the Whole Foods in Austin. It's their corporate headquarters and the biggest Whole Foods I've ever been in. It has multiple eateries and a bar inside.
The rest of the places I ate at were just so-so...with the exception of this place:

I had to break from my normal vegan/vegetarian routine and partake in the meats.... It was a worthwhile diversion from my usual program. But i'm now back on the veggies....

If you have any more questions I'll try to answer. I'm here all day lol...

Been there 1.5 times. Happened upon a record convention and ended up lugging 20+ vinyls around :/

FOOD, FOOD FOOD

- I took a food tour. It was like $80 bucks and worth every cent. Started at a brewery, had a breakfast taco and two tasters, then went to a BBQ spot in a dirt parking lot but it was SO good. Then another place with more lunchtime fare, a gelato place, and ended up at another brewery. Full and tipsy by 1 pm.

Places I'd go back to
- Terry Black's BBQ
- Amy's Ice Cream
- Torchy's Tacos
- South Congress Avenue cool for just walking around

Places that were on my list that I didn't make it to:
- Franklins
- Pluckers
- Trudy's Mexican Martini
- Rainey Street
- 360 Bridge Overlook
- Juan in a Million
- Counter Cafe
- Noble Pig
- Kerby Lane
- Jo's Coffee
- Home Slice Pizza
- Three Forks
- La Barbeque
- Matts El Rancho
- Satlick BBQ
- Austin Eastcider
- The Roosevelt Room

That's a pretty long list for your trip lmao but you have options. I went in May and the weather was perfect. Gained 4 lbs.
13365783, both are great cities with great food and music

I was in Austin a couple months ago, riding scooters around town was fun. it's little bit outside of the city, but stiles switch bbq was awesome. catch the tina brown band at bourbon street blues and bougie bar if you go to Nashville. Both cities are one big party.

The downtown/S. Congress/S. Lamar area is pretty walkable. And if the distance is too much, the bus system in that part of town runs buses every 20-30 minutes. Bus fare is under $2.00 for a day (at least when I lived there about five years ago). There is light-rail if you want to head further north. There's a district about 20 minutes north of downtown called The Domain which has high-end shopping and frou-frou dining. And you could also shoot up to Round Rock or some of the other smaller cities in the area.

Lots of good food and if you're up to take in live roots rock/country there are some nice places. The Warehouse district and 2nd street have nice restaurants and some boutique shopping.

Town/Lady Bird Lake includes a hike and bike trail which stretches a few miles both east and west of downtown. It's gravel paved but has nice grass expanses for sitting down on the ground or just taking in the sights and sounds. Also, a boat tour of the lake is available. Auditorium Shores is a nice place to walk around for a bit as well. I don't think the heat ought to be a problem so you'd be fine.

A mostly White city although there with it being Texas, Tejano and Latino culture is a part of the city's culture. Not a big Black population (yea, gentrification!). As a result, there isn't a big hip-hop or R&B scene but if you go on the Eastside there will is a nice mural at the George Washington Carver Public Library and some other cultural landmarks.

Only thing is that I don't believe the city has Uber (they have other ridesharing including a service which only has women drivers).
