number of albums doesn't really mean much. he was impactful as hell with that short career.

but as a teen this did bother me. how he gonna be the goat and only released one album??????

but nah that first album was enough, the second was just icing. dude was just fly.

could be worse choices to include.
13362355, Biggie was so large I was shocked he only had 2 album credits
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jan-15-20 03:49 PM
Seemed like he was on the scene for a long ass time because he was so huge.

He got us with the Party and Bullshit fight on stage at Jones Beach. We ran... then we were like ohhh shiiittttt!!!

Loved that song. Remix better tho.
13362358, My cousins 6 year old was wearing a Biggie shirt.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 03:57 PM
Biggie died fucking 23 years ago.

Yeah, he's had an impact and should be in - no question.

Nobody's checking for Miseducation in 2020 but people still play Ready to Die *kanye shrug*
13362361, i always hated this argument
Posted by mind_grapes, Wed Jan-15-20 04:13 PM
great art is great art. if you look at writers, then some make it into the canon with only publishing one or two great works. other writers write multiple works, but only two or three of those remain culturally relevant. in terms of outcomes, it's pretty much the same in terms of the one or two works that remain celebrated regardless of intial output

thats the "and?" red choice
13362371, i voted blue

13362363, Red. And Blue is dumb. Lauryn didn't die at the age of 24.

13362364, I’m imagining if Biggie did an unplugged album
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jan-15-20 04:44 PM
then showed up late for shows for the next 20 years...

How would we view him?

13362370, LOL yup

13362372, so she should be held back for....NOT dying?
Posted by Stadiq, Wed Jan-15-20 06:05 PM

If Big's work gets him in, so does Lauryn's.

I know the cool guy thing to do is shit on her or whatever, but the logic is...weird.

13362373, Perhaps she should try making 2 great albums?
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 06:09 PM
13362414, She did....The Score counts
Posted by DJR, Wed Jan-15-20 08:28 PM
13362374, No. She had 20 years to make more albums
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jan-15-20 06:15 PM
and instead she decided to spend her days showing up late to shows.

13362377, This right here

^^^^^^^^^ yep

Plus they leaving out Biggie's second album was a double album and that was not great.

Lauryn should get in.
13362379, For what?
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 06:21 PM
I'm not shitting on Lauryn. I like her enough, and her work with the Fugees/solo is great. But LASTING RnR HOF status? Nah.
13362385, Impact just like Biggie

You shitting on her when you dismiss what she accomplished.

13362386, Lauryn didn't have the impact Biggie did.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 07:03 PM
Period.

There's no discussion here, but I'd welcome an argument.

There ISNT one, but go for it *shrug*

You are not Black so you don't understand the damage caused by spreading Ready to Die, but feel free to make the case over the Miseducation message

I don't need to make the case for a dude who just made the hall of fame.

You DO for a person who didn't.

Thanks for trying to put it back on me though!

13362392, Tell me more about the 6 year old wearing a shirt with Biggie
Posted by Lurkmode, Wed Jan-15-20 07:21 PM
on it. Does he/she know the lyrics to warning ?
13362393, It's insane how you keep deflecting the point.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 07:23 PM
Like, truly.

You COULD have made a case for Lauryn Hill, who has made one good album that was not as good as you remember it being, by now....but you haven't, and yet are still replying to me.

But sure, *I'M* the one who doesn't get it.
13362395, My 2 and half year old cousin likes Blippie
Posted by Lurkmode, Wed Jan-15-20 07:27 PM
They should put Blippi in the RRHOF

Blippi's impact.
13362396, ....still doing it!
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 07:28 PM
All that typing and not one argument for Lauryn Hill to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
13362397, Fred and Barney from 88

13362406, Lotta effort to not say anything.

I'm killing time at work. You? You're...failing to do anything of note.

"LULZ LEMME TYPE IMPACT AGAIN"
13362407, Once again no joke

Icy Blu is getting robbed if 6 year old has her shirt on.
13362410, again - *I* dont have to make the argument
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 08:13 PM
You do.

Biggie's in.

Make the case for Lauryn.

You clearly CANT otherwise you WOULD. You latch onto ONE thing I said and repeat it, which is insane. If you could make an argument for her, you would. If you need me to type up an essay on Biggie, I could. I'm not GOING to, because he's in. And he's....VERY clearly a bigger deal in every sense than Lauryn Hill.
13362412, If your words mean fuck all why offer any words or make the case
Posted by Lurkmode, Wed Jan-15-20 08:24 PM

What is this ? A reason why Biggie is in and L Boogie is not when, Biggie is in so that means fuck all ?

13362416, It's not about attention
Posted by Lurkmode, Wed Jan-15-20 08:33 PM
you made a stupid argument and being bored at work is not an excuse.
13362476, I'm one of the few people who LOVED her Unplugged album.
Posted by Teknontheou, Thu Jan-16-20 10:54 AM
I had it on heavy rotation on and off for about 3 or 4 years after it came out.

I thought she was one of the best MCs in Hip-Hop, period, in the wake of The Score.

But her fall-off at a point that should have been her prime has to be factored in, and she loses points in totality because of it.
13362365, what about an artist that had one great album
Posted by mista k5, Wed Jan-15-20 04:48 PM
and 10 trash ones?
13362383, Man Nas isnt getting in
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 06:55 PM
13362418, Dunno why this is putting my reply here. Oh well.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-15-20 08:45 PM
I said one small thing. I don’t need to make an argument for a dude who made the Hall. Not sure if you know this, but I didn’t get to vote.

You HAVENT made an argument. You’ve said a lot of weird things though.
13362419, I didn’t make an “argument”.

13362381, RRHF indcuts rap occasionally - the last few have been popular
Posted by handle, Wed Jan-15-20 06:52 PM
2020: Biggie
2017: Tupac

I'm saying those 2 are because of popularity and personality more than the music on the albums.

2016:N.W.A.

I count NWA as 1 "proper" album only - but I couldn't argue with it.

2013: Public Enenmy

This one seems to fit the model of having several influential albums

2012: Beastie Boys

Again, several influential albums and impact on popular culture.

2009: Run DMC
No way to argue this one.

2007: Granmaster Flash and The Furios Five
These guys didn't break out commercial as much as those that followed, but this is honoring people at the start.
13362415, LL Cool J still isn’t in? That’s some bullshit
Posted by DJR, Wed Jan-15-20 08:31 PM
13362473, is NWA based on just the group work?
Posted by mista k5, Thu Jan-16-20 10:49 AM
meaning is it possible cube or dre would get inducted on their solo work or are they already in?
13362492, Clapton is In there three times
Posted by Errol Walton Barrow, Thu Jan-16-20 11:49 AM
For Derek and the dominos, Cream and his solo work. So yeah, dream and cube eventually getting in is very possible.
13362496, thats cool. ive never really bothered to look into specifics of this.
