Don't know if the numbers are legit. But it wouldn't be surprising that there would be some overlap there, even though their messages are almost polar opposites.

I have a hunch that a good portion of Bernie's support in 2016 were people who never had any interest in voting before. They were waiting for a candidate who appeared to advocate for them. Clinton was never going to appeal to them. She was an "elite".
Note: this logic doesn't work if you believe anybody who voted for Trump is a racist.


Even if the numbers are legit, it seems like Sanders did a pretty good job funneling his supporters to Clinton. Better than Clinton did to Obama.

Blaming other candidates for a loss is weak. Ultimately it is up to the candidate get people on their side and win those votes
