13359132, OKFIT ... get those 2020 Goals in
Posted by MEAT, Thu Dec-12-19 02:38 PM
Me. I'm working to do drop at 10 lbs by the end of the year, drop some back fat and build muscle.

And I want to do 3 races on a bike, and at least 2 duathlons, I MAY do the MS150 again too.

Race 1 - http://www.topviewsports.com/events/event/davy-crockett-classic/

Race 2 - https://www.ironhorsebicycleclassic.com/#

"Race" 3 - http://www.topviewsports.com/events/event/davy-crockett-classic/

Du 1 - https://www.texastoughduathlon.com/race-info

And I'll need to find a second Du

What you got?

13359174, I need to think of more tangible goals
Posted by snacks, Thu Dec-12-19 07:58 PM
Or maybe not, idk

But so far I wanna get back down to 200 lbs (I'm down to 213 from 230 now) and keep doing yoga twice a week as well as Muay Thai twice a week

I have a few yoga poses I wanna be able to perform: birds of paradise, scorpion, get better with inversions in general
13359193, 7 lbs is nothing to snuff at. Get it!!

Down to 209 now ... will have to go harder if I wanna lose this last 9 but signing up for this 10 week boxing clinic (and thus being more or less forced to box 4 times a week) was a great hack
13359184, 7 min mile is the stretch goal, I’ll settle for 7:25 though... for 5k races
Posted by FLUIDJ, Thu Dec-12-19 08:31 PM
....By next fall.

I have at least one 10miler in April, doing the GW Parkway Classic again.... aiming to get that down to 8min/mile.

Entered the lottery for the Cherry Blossom 10 mile.... no real goal for that. But it will be cool if I do two 10 mile races in one month.
13359263, I see you with those time drops
Posted by MEAT, Fri Dec-13-19 02:10 PM
Get on that interval life.
13359609, Just lost about 2 weeks....bout to be a rough go getting ramped up again
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Dec-17-19 12:06 PM
what do you mean by intervals?
13365774, Whelp...looks like I won the lotto....Two 10-mile races in one month. O.Boy.

Doing the LISS for biking has helped tremendously. I can’t imagine where I’d be without my heart rate monitor.
13365782, I have zero luck with Nike running shoes...tempting though...but...

>Doing the LISS for biking has helped tremendously. I can’t
>imagine where I’d be without my heart rate monitor.

it's also hard for me to justify the $250 price point. I can get 3 pairs of my go-to Mizuno Wave Shadow's for that price.
I would like to try them out just for shits and grins though.

I was supposed to bring in some sort of strength training component into my normal regimen by now, but just haven't been able to squeeze it into my already hectic schedule. Are you following youtube vids for the LISS?

I'm thoroughly impressed with the Apple Watch's heart monitoring capabilities. Still on the fence about getting a chest heart rate monitor though. I was wearing my Polar M430 on one wrist and my Apple Watch on the other for a while....but the convenience of the Apple Watch is winning out.

Posted by KnowOne, Fri Dec-13-19 01:46 PM
I did it in 2018, but I missed it this year because of carpal tunnel.

13359259, i really wanna lose weight
Posted by mista k5, Fri Dec-13-19 01:51 PM
dont have a specific goal or target date for it. i just wanna see progress.

im trying out the intermittent fasting right now, two weeks in. i would say too early to tell.

im just trying to establish better habits. reducing bread and increasing veggies would be good.
13359423, to lose 10-15lbs
Posted by tariqhu, Mon Dec-16-19 11:07 AM
run the peachtree road race in 50-55 minutes

to build my upper body strength

to improve my overall flexibility

to get this damn tennis elbow fixed
13359606, I crushed it in 2019!
Posted by KiloMcG, Tue Dec-17-19 11:47 AM
So my main goal is to keep it up and keep building lean muscle mass. I've never had this much endurance, muscle tone and definition ever in life. Crazy that at 40 I'm in the best physical shape I've ever been in. And I've always been active playing soccer and other sports, but not as dedicated to full body workouts as I am right now.

Other than that, my goals are pretty much standard: drink less and stop smoking completely.
13359621, this gives me hope lol
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Dec-17-19 01:54 PM
> Crazy that at 40 I'm in the best
>physical shape I've ever been in.

i play in an open ages soccer league and im always amazed when the 40+ crowd is able to keep up w/ us (were all about 25-30) physically. i really need to get my cardio back up to where it was in the spring.
13359643, I get those kind of comments
Posted by tariqhu, Tue Dec-17-19 02:44 PM
whenever I play ball. somebody always asks how old I am and are always somewhat surprised when I tell'em.
13359687, trying to move this scale
Posted by RobOne4, Tue Dec-17-19 04:38 PM
over the last year ive lost a lot of inches but the scale hasnt moved at all. That whole muscle weighs more than fat thing is so very true. Im so glad I measured myself at the start because i have something to go off to show i am progressing. Now i have a routine so I need to work on the diet a bit more. More of the same thing that ive been doing.
13365164, Race one is coming up this weekend. I’m nervous

If no...you're STILL a winner...

Keep keep keep keep rising to the top.

just under 30 minutes. not blazing but not a bad start for me for the first official run of the year.
13365531, just started brazilian jiu jitsu
Posted by rawsouthpaw, Wed Feb-05-20 11:38 PM
defended myself against a full guard and put dude in a half guard while doing drills with a guy who's trained on and off for years. love it. don't know what my goals may be though other than to rapidly get comfortable on the mat.
13365543, Nice hope you like it and stick with it
Posted by T Reynolds, Thu Feb-06-20 08:29 AM
it's been really great for my overall health and lifestyle

hanging with more people outside of drinking establishments and spending less time in places of ill repute, keeping me calm and focused at work, plus keeping pounds off while learning an endlessly complex art have all been positive for me
13369374, RE: just started brazilian jiu jitsu
Posted by sungod1, Fri Feb-28-20 01:12 AM
16 years in and I've lost 80 pounds, cured my claustraphobia, no longer depressed or anxious, generally happier and nonplussed by a lot of shit. I needed a back surgery for my troubles but I still train 4-5 times a week with an artificial disc in my spine.

Also retired from MMA undefeated (1-0 but no one can take that away from me.

Keep at it bro!!
13369385, champ shit lol

13365784, heavier deadlift . squat . bench
Posted by eye.M.woman, Fri Feb-07-20 10:12 AM
i want to get a 315lb deadlift atleast by the end of the year
i have 275lb squat :(
and i dont care about bench but atleast rep out my body weight at 155lb
13365805, I have a mental block on my squat.
Posted by soulfunk, Fri Feb-07-20 11:22 AM
Did 275 for 3 reps last weekend (was going for 5). I should be way stronger than that at my body weight (250) and the fact that my deadlift is at 365 for 5 reps. But every time I get under the bar at 275 it just feels heavy as heck in my head and I can’t push through the reps. I’ll deload and focus on form, working my way back up, but the mental block is there.
13366088, yes! you can do a strength block based off percentage
Posted by eye.M.woman, Mon Feb-10-20 11:43 AM
thats how strength programs work
so you work off 70/75/85% for reps
then test your old numbers after 6 weeks or so

what im doing now - is working with my 75-85%
but using a box - cus its harder when you squat onto a box,
you sit, resets the muscle/cns - then stand up.
that shit makes your 50% feel like 110% after a few reps

13369657, cutting out sugar for lent.
Posted by tariqhu, Mon Mar-02-20 09:12 AM
I haven't change my eating since I stopped eating red meat years ago. we'll see if I have the discipline to hold out for the next few weeks on the sugar.

diet is my biggest hurdle. hoping this will kick start new habits.
13369967, i joined a body transformation challenge
Posted by MiracleRic, Mon Mar-02-20 05:49 PM
it's for weight gain...it's 12 weeks and I think we're halfway through it at this point

I've reached a slow point bc of my back problems...2 bulging discs and a chronic spasm which kinda basically escalates into frequent muscle strains usually in the upper or mid back

i've chilled in the gym but just eating more earlier in the day really got me goin week 2-4. I may take it easy this week like i did last week and then really crank up the caloric intake for the last 4 and really target some vanity muscle groups for challenge purposes

my goal was to gain 25 pounds of muscle and stay under 15% body fat

i gained 10 and went from 9% to 11% so I'm behind schedule but still within range to get to my desired weight

really gonna have to crush these next 4 weeks though

Been telling myself I would do them again, theres an fantastic area near me where you rude on a closed road through orange groves...but I need to get time in on the seat before I'm ready for that. Bike has been seriously lacking. Running and swimming, I'm good though.
13371658, Right now the goal is just to get back on track
Posted by bigkarma, Fri Mar-06-20 04:37 PM
Most of 2019 I was on point...keto, some intermittent fasting, hiking, bootcamp class...etc.

At the end of the year I got distracted by a bunch of issues like a burst pipe in the house, death of the family dog, car troubles, the sickness and eventual death of a family member, uptick in work duties and a few other things.

I fell off hard and I feel like in 4-5 months, I've undone almost a year's worth of hard work. I feel shittier now than I ever did. Luckily, a recent physical shows I only put back on a few pounds, and all my labs are still good.

I'm getting back on the fitness grind. Got two days in this week in the gym, and just started the keto back up. My initial goal is to just be fit enough to do some physical activities during a family vacation to the Caribbean this upcoming summer. Some intense snorkling sessions, long hikes...etc.

After that I want to really get in good enough shape to do something competitive. I would like to take a BJJ or a Judo class.
13374681, I've been panic exercising
Posted by MEAT, Mon Mar-23-20 01:41 PM
Being an asthmatic. Every cough and chest pain now feels like it's corona. All I can think of is "well if I get enough positive blood flow and adrenaline going to make my lungs work, that's the best I can do"
