13352588, How many people have died? Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Fri Oct-18-19 01:14 PM
That's the question.
Guesstimate.
How would you even go about trying to answer that question?

There's a World Death Clock. It currently counts up when ppl are dead or dying. It averages 56 million deaths per year.
I once work as a mortician, and found that the weekends and Mondays were the busiest for me. Why Mondays, because ppl hate work and school.
You can actually call the morgue in your city and they can give you an average count of people dead in your town or city. Or they could have it posted on the website hidden somewhere.
Life is fragile and ppl die every second.

I'm paraphrasing and may not be stating it properly but I heard that somewhere a while back. I didn't think of it again until this post so I did a little digging.

13352621, Oh yeah, it's definitely not true... Posted by Marbles, Fri Oct-18-19 03:18 PM
But I was intrigued by the idea and then blown away at how they figured it out. That kind of thing is way over my head.

13353099, I agree more than are living but that’s not a good model Posted by rob, Wed Oct-23-19 02:34 PM
People alive have shared ancestors, and more likely to have shared ancestors as you go back.
I think the most interesting part of the question would be where you would decide the cut off was for first humans. Even though there were way less people around at any given time in the deep past, you can fit so many life times into a hundred thousand years.

13353206, Well, technically, according to that, 101.5 billion have *died*. Posted by Brew, Thu Oct-24-19 12:05 PM
The 108 billion you reference is how many humans have ever inhabited earth, including 7.5B of us currently still living.
Just, you know, for accuracy's sake.
This obviously doesn't take aliens into account ......
