When white people get called out for calling a black person that word, they do exactly what you just did, in a poor attempt to intellectualize, and therefore justify, their use of the word as an epithet towards black people.

What it "really" means doesn't magically remove the historical context of the word. Leaning on what it "really" means is is to ignore the actual usage.
