13349191, Yes - but if they launch impeachment, they need to win Posted by Vex_id, Wed Sep-25-19 12:55 PM
The impeachment proceedings of Bill Clinton were devastating to Democrats in subsequent elections, and led to essentially a decade strong-hold for Republican majorities in govt. These are different times, but impeachment is risky if you don't have bi-partisan consensus.
This is also a symptom of Congress continually shirking its duty. This non-sense about "secret votes" should not be tolerated - they need to get on record and stop hiding from difficult votes/stances.
>trump had them fired up in 2016 and still walked away with >less of the vote share than mitt romney and a historically >slim electoral college margin. > >when dem voters show up and show out...its an easy win.
Dem voters show up when it's a big-tent, aspirational candidate at the helm. Bill Clinton & Obama were unorthodox candidates who inspired multiple segments of the electorate - Al Gore, John Kerry, & Hillary Clinton were centrist holders of the status-quo who failed to inspire and move voters to turn out. It's pretty clear which candidates fall into the former category, and which candidates fall into the latter.
