the 10 more necessary votes in addition to that. But that would require them to stand up to their voters, which is hard. But I think their assessment of the situation is off. If they all stood together in a united front, there's not enough Trumpian candidates to replace all, or even most, of them.
In a way, if I were one of those R senators, I'd be pissed that the transcript wasn't worse than it turned out to be. Maybe McConnell was hoping the transcript would be unequivocally, glaringly, absolutely Nixon level bad, giving him the clear excuse to push removal - maybe they all hoped that, which was why the decision to approve last night was unanimous.
