and type as much as they can while the conversation goes along. The goal is usually to have an accurate word-for-word transcript, and that's why there are multiple people listening in and typing as they go. But they don't actually record the audio. Probably because Nixon.

Kinda funny that they're paying three people to approximate a job that would be done much better by a tape recorder. But that's the military-industrial complex, I guess.

Anyway, this is just standard practice for us. The state on the other side of the call might actually record these things, though apparently that's uncommon, and from what I understand Ukraine hasn't given any indication one way or the other. They don't want to touch this argument with a ten-foot pole, of course.
