There are a lot of parents who allow their children to smoke weed or take cannabis under their supervision and they live on. And based on the research I've come across, cannabis is still 'healther' than alcohol.

I just think the parent hoped the son would grow out of it or that it was keeping him calm. It's a shame the seemingly obvious warning signs were overlooked for such a long period of time.
