Black Americans been tryna tell dat shit to Black-Latinos(Afro-Latinos) for YEARS.

This is precisely why I always laugh when people say HipHop was started by Blacks & Latinos. Thats like saying, Blacks & Blacks.

All music of North America/South America/Caribbean is Black(and by Black, I mean African).

Somebody hand Fat Joe his latepass,...ol confused azz ninja.

13348476, Agreed, My pop told me
Posted by Musa, Fri Sep-20-19 04:33 AM
back in the 60s when Ricans, Cubans etc started moving in they were in the crew with Black folks and didn't hide their Africaness then when they got some numbers they became not Black.

That is why I said to paraphrase identifying with the colonizer ain't cool anymore.

We been on that before we heard Fela and Tony Allen the originators of Afro beat or even the new wave which is heavily inspired by us in the DIASPORA.

Duke, I'd pay cash money to watch you answer a question *directly.

Why?

'cus muthafukka, you don't got a direct bone in yo body.

Atillah Moor, I say this out of love, Blak: Muthafukka, how is you gon' reach yo full potential if you scared to speak directly and address a situation head-on?

I been watchin you for years, and you've ALWAYS been cryptic.
Aint nothin wrong wit that if you a dumb muthafukka but Atillah, YOU AIN'T DUMB. You have much value to add to various discussions here but you too busy being cryptic, thus, you don't really add the real jewels that you are capable-of to a discussion.

My ninja, SPEAK YO MIND, SUN!

13348484, Nah
Posted by kayru99, Fri Sep-20-19 06:54 AM
Too many Latinos are too anti-Black here and abroad for that too be true.
And it's too many different kinds of "latinos" to make such a broad statement.
Argentines swear their fuckin Italians
And Dominicans ain't Black, papi.
Nah
He's right about all modern musisc tho
13348547, I get what you are saying
Posted by Musa, Fri Sep-20-19 11:48 AM
I think that is the reason he is saying it.

Hence the reason I stated associating with the colonizer is no longer cool.
13348557, That always tripped me out especially around here with Mexicans
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Sep-20-19 12:50 PM
They'll use the "ga" one minute and the "ger" the next. Seemed like some two-faced shit if I ever saw it.

Dominicans and Puerto Ricans back East, that's a little different maybe, they seem to have embraced their black roots. Now you got people from India and Morocco throwing around the n word, seems like a stretch to me.

Also "Latino" as a blanket term is pretty weird. How the hell are you going to tell me that say Colombia and Venezuela are the same ethnically as Chile and Argentina? Brazil is the big knuckleball there, too.

I just want to move past labels and totems and taboos and mores altogether, but it won't happen. A lot of this stuff now is about gaining strength in numbers (which is fine, maybe even great) or about broadening cultural access, which is a little murkier.

Didn't watch the clip.
13348544, Him specifically no but Africans of the Diaspora
Posted by Musa, Fri Sep-20-19 11:39 AM
particularly in the Spanish speaking colonies yes. See Dominicans.
13348550, Fat Joe says is wrong
Posted by Kira, Fri Sep-20-19 11:58 AM
Zimmerman, officer Yanez, and racist Latinos disagree with him. Latino gangs in Cali targeting black civilians disagree with Fat Joe.

Y'all need to stay on y'all side with your black when you convenient asses. This is a stealth way into the reparations conversation trying to leech off benefits as usual just like certain Jamaicans..

There's a study on this topic and most Latinos don't identify as African but white...
13348551, Damn

No for Joe based on all this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
13348552, Did fat joe bring up reparations for afro-latinos?
Posted by naame, Fri Sep-20-19 12:27 PM

America has imported more warlord theocracy from Afghanistan than it has exported democracy.
13348595, A lot of Latinos are half-White, including Fat Joe himself. It figures.
Posted by Shaun Tha Don, Fri Sep-20-19 04:23 PM
13348601, Ted Cruz. Marco Rubio. All the racist ass Cubans in Miami
Posted by kayru99, Fri Sep-20-19 05:08 PM
That police chief in Florida purposely framing Black/ADOS teens with unsolved crimes...NY folks try to make the supposed dynamic between Blacks & Latinos there, universal.
Shit ain't even universal in NYC, lol
13348602, genetically it's two of the most mixed, spread out groups shoved ...
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Sep-20-19 05:12 PM
"neatly" into two boxes and now maybe one.

nah.

we'd do better breaking apart the whole damn construct of race but you know damn well that privileged people and especially white people would have a field day exploiting that.
13348604, yup. Latin America is broad as fuck
Posted by kayru99, Fri Sep-20-19 05:27 PM
and many of the groups/nationalities don't even fuck with each other.
But we wanna just say they "black" cuz folks in NY say so.
Nah, bruh
That's just typical American oversimplification to make shit easier for white people
13348610, Latino is really a term thrown on people
Posted by Musa, Fri Sep-20-19 06:44 PM
who speak a latin Spanish..

You naming ones that are white.

Now they are as mixed if not more than Black folk in the USA but no one would call us anglos!

The trick and shame is since whiteness aka Western Eurasian was seen as the best and exception everyone disassociated with African especially in the former spanish colonies.

Irony is its a reason Spanish and Portuguese are darker than other Western Eurasians and it's a 700 year clue.

13348624, sure
Posted by kayru99, Sat Sep-21-19 07:23 AM
Fat Joe needs to push for more of a cultural reclamation of blackness in his culture, then. And not get us to move our borders to claim people who only kinda, sometimes, sorta claim kinship with us & often work against us.

13348626, Most definitely

.
13348628, RE: Latino is really a term thrown on people
Posted by double 0, Sat Sep-21-19 09:09 AM
FYI

Latino is ALSO used to identify Non-Spanish speaking CA and SA countries like Belize, Suriname and Guyana

Its a terrible term...
13348660, Those countries are rarely included
Posted by Musa, Sun Sep-22-19 12:48 PM
mainly because they are predominantely AFRICAN and don't try to hide it with wavy hair and a Spanish language.

Even Brazil with its dozens of racial categories had people dodging being AFRICAN.
13348662, Guyana is not predominantly African, though.
Posted by Shaun Tha Don, Sun Sep-22-19 01:30 PM
It's predominantly East Asian.
13348663, When did this happen?
Posted by Musa, Sun Sep-22-19 01:55 PM
It has had to have been in the last decade or two.

Does that include Dougla folk?
13348664, According to its census, well before independence.

Ha...

I wish.. my whole ass Belizean family could be as dark as my brethren ot genasis and not consider themselves black...

Shit the prime minister of belize dont fuck with his own son (shyne) because his moms is garifuna and therefore too black.

They americas suffer from the same issues regardless of language or complexion and they get even more complicated when they arrive in the good ol usa

.....

But regardless those countries on the census are considered latin america and therefore latino which is dumb
13348675, Colonial mentality
Posted by Musa, Sun Sep-22-19 08:46 PM
nothing more nothing less.

Now it's cool to be African
13348678, RE: Colonial mentality

Yup...

The shit needs to die across the americas

You can make the same case for black people that are discriminatory against other blacks and side with whites and their agenda. So it’s more of a question of what your soul is really like. So you think that if an ethnic war broke out that all black people would fight on the same side?

Also there are plenty of Latinos that identity themselves with being black... IJS.

13348618, I shall do this for Diasporic Africana, if not for anyone else...
Posted by NoDrawls McGraw, Fri Sep-20-19 11:18 PM
Granted, it is laborious to explain Afro-Latin/Afro-Caribbean dynamics to GD(GD is some of the most self-hating, non knowing your cultural heritage azz ninjaz alive), .....it is worth it if only for La Raza.....

Thus, I do the following for my diasporic Afrikan progeny...

*cracks knuckles*

1st off, Fat Joe was partially on-point.
Partially only because there are some dormannt racist mechanisms that he is still dealing with. If I ever get the chance to bless NYC, I'll link with him and shed light where his darkness is present.

Now, lets get into the real.....

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A LATINO!
(as revolutionary as that sounds, its the realest truth ever).

All that ever was, always has been in an ethno-cultural sense.

Allow me to deconstruct the propaghanda.

Beautiful diasporic Africana of GD,..
The term "Latino" was born from white census administrators who were too lazy to take an honest statistical-appraisal of Latin America's inherent ethnic diversity(Africans/Europeans/Indigenous Native Americans).

Thus, the term, "Latino" was deployed to over-simplify Latin America's ethnic composition for the mere means of minimizing the stifling impact of racism practiced there.

-And for the purposes of minimizing the indelible cultural-impact of Africana by creating a new ethno-cultural designation that disguises Latin America's Africanic cultural-heritage.
^ ^ ^Watch that!

A better way to put it is: Europeans wanted to cultivate a means of diminishing the ubiquitously-indelible impact of Africana in the region. Thus, Afro-Latin cultures started to see a rebranding in the 70's. You will recall that Afro-Cuban Jazz used to be referred to as, "Afro-Cuban Jazz" or "Afro-Latin Jazz"...but by the 80's, they simply started referring to it as "Latin-Jazz",...completely removing the prefix of "Afro" from it so-as to remove the connotation of 'Blackness' from it. Though it never stopped being Black.

Where do you goofy muthafukkaz think Conga-drumming comes from?
Bongo drumming comes from?
Clave comes from?
Bata drumming comes from?
Samba drumming/Capoiera comes from?
Tango dance/Milonga dance comes from?
Rumba/Salsa dance comes from?
Conga dance comes from?
Cha-cha-cha comes from?
Merengue comes from?
Clave comes from?
Cumbia dance comes from?
Santeria comes from?
Candomble comes from?
Abakua comes from?

....

......

Oh?...yall need hints still?,....

Africans of the Americas!

When Africana brought their rhythms/dance/percussion/religion to Latin America, Euro-Latinos(much like hyenas) gravitated towards all that and co-opted it, put their name on it, forced Afro-Latinos(via violence) to succeed those cultures to Euro-Latinos via their respective popularity.

Now, whole new identities have been spawned from these otherwise bastardized African cultures that've been aggressively dissemenated to privileged bi-ethnic Latin Americans whom have the convenience of denying the said African roots of the cultures they've inherited via natural course and misinformation.

Now, just as there are those like yall ignorant-enough to not be able to perceive this, ...there are muthafukkaz like me whom are intelligible enough to perceive this. The question, GD, is....which muthafukkaz is YALL listening to?...........................................................................

13348661, Great break down
Posted by Musa, Sun Sep-22-19 12:53 PM
I summarized what you elaborated with it not being cool to associate with colonizers anymore.

Eurasians have always tried to minimize and destroy the Africaness of anything in it's colonies when truth be told a majority of anything worth anything came from African labor, ingenuity, suffering, cultural memory(despite the push to eliminate it) etc. etc.

13348670, Straight like dat!
