13347100, So is OKP vaping or nah? its seems like its becoming big deal recently...

with 45 even talking about "banning" it.

I have almost zero knowledge about that stuff but I do have questions as marijuana is slowly becoming "legal" in the midwest...

Are the "vapes" people use for tobacco the same as the ones people use for cannabis/THC/CBD with just different cartridges/oils?

13347101, Nah. Seems dumb.

13347107, Pretty much. There are standard-size cartridges

Last year I got me some 85% THC carts. Borrowed my homey's vape pen and gave them a try.

They SUCKED compared to smoking an blunt. Made me cough like crazy, every time. Didn't really feel anything, either. Used up two carts and never even thought about trying vaping again. It's like the worst option available. Only cool thing was being able to vape THC almost anywhere that smoking is permitted, but since it didn't work it was a waste.

Edibles are far more effective and really safe. Smoking just works, but isn't good for you.

Oh, and the other 15% is cottonseed, flax oil or some other type of oil.
13347113, The weed vaporizers I've seen are different
Posted by sectachrome86, Wed Sep-11-19 03:10 PM
Like you put actual weed in it, not some juice cartridge.
13347156, there are also different ways to vape weed (concentrates, cartridges)
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Sep-11-19 05:37 PM
the cartridges are a lot like the tobacco vape products.

some are good but there have been issues with fakes and contaminated ones. vaping flower is the safest and most efficient still.
13347195, can you go into detail about this?

13347200, There is a vaporizer specifically for flower
Posted by bigkarma, Thu Sep-12-19 10:40 AM
The most common vape products you see are the vape pens that use concentrate or oils. That's the most common because of the convenience and the discreetness.

However there is a style of vaporizer where you pack in actually weed, and the device heats it to a temp that releases the THC, but does not "burn" it. I'd link, but I'm at the gig. Google "dry herb vaporizer"
13347222, thanks

13347227, i've been using dry herb vapes exclusively for the past couple of years
Posted by dapitts08, Thu Sep-12-19 11:15 AM
only time i smoke a j or blunt is when i'm smoking with someone else who has one lol

vaping is soooooooo cost effective lol the vape ends up paying for itself

i have the following vapes:

arizer solo 2
- highly recommend
- https://arizer.com/solo2/

dynavap m
- highly recommend when paired with an induction heater instead of butane lighter
- really affordable option and most folks entry into dry herb vapes lately
- https://www.dynavap.com/dynashop/vaporizers/special-products/the-m/the-new-2019-m

pax 2
- the apple of vapes
- it was my first vape but after research realized there were better vapes out there hence the two purchases above
- great for stealthiness but stinks
- this is my go to when sneaking it into concerts and festivals lol
- there is a newer model out now
- https://www.pax.com/products/pax-2?variant=13409044299891

before buying definitely check out https://www.reddit.com/r/vaporents/. that's where i learned everything i know about dry herb vapes.

edit: and yes the deaths are cause by oil carts. i purposely never messed with them or wax. the carrier oils always turned me off.

13347235, good info, thanks

13347331, Volcano is still the gold standard IMHO, $600+ retail but often less
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Sep-12-19 06:00 PM
I have two, I paid $275 and $350 I think though I had to work it to get those deals.

It's made by a German company. Very efficient, very effective and a cool conversation starter.

More recently portable ones have been a big thing. I don't really like them. Pax is the big name and they are hard to clean and just generally a pain in the ass. I feel like a lot of the other portable "vaporizers" I have seen aren't really vaporizers at all.

The high is a little different, some might argue it's better, some may say they miss some of the sensations typically associated with smoking. There's always a trade-off but I think it's the best alternative out there in terms of effect and health. The little vape pens and stuff don't really do the job or you have to hit it hard AF and be like too stony for a while then not at all. I find those are only good in a situation where you really need something portable and discrete.
13347387, YUP. this is where I'm at too.

I pretty much exclusively use a healthy rips fury 2* (dry herb vape) now and I only go through less than a 1/4 a month with frequent usage. it's been wonderful for my wallet and for my lungs.

I can usually get two to three sessions out of the same tiny amount of weed at increasing temperatures and then store the vaped remains to make edibles with later. the efficiency is incredible compared to smoking it (even if you're trying to get super high and max out the temp from the start)

*their new product, the Fury Edge, just came out and it looks even better ( https://www.puffitup.com/Healthy-Rips-Edge-Vaporizer-p/hr.edge.htm ) . I can't recommend healthy rips' customer service enough either. I broke my first fury 2 by being an idiot and forcing the glass piece attachment (it works even better paired with a bong) in before the oven was ready and they still honored the lifetime warranty.
13347555, I get my concentrates from specific companies...
Posted by bwood, Sat Sep-14-19 06:43 AM
...that are very visible with their extraction process (710 Labs, Feeling Frosty, Lazercat, Concentrated Solutions, Royal Key). I use Puffco products for my concentrates and that seems the safe and discreet form me.

As far as the THC carts, I'm good on those except for the ones by 710 Labs as again they're very transparent about the process (the carts from them are hard to come by) so I don't really do carts that much.

Check out https://www.puffco.com/. The Plus is great for when you're out and about. And the Peak is simple to use when you are at home. Just make sure you clean it often.

There are diff kinds... there are some that people can put wax in and it is ignited with butane and others similar to the nicotine ones...

The ones killing people are the weed ones though.. its extremely unregulated and muthafuckas putting pesticides in that shit
13347349, It's not the weed ones killing people.
Posted by KiloMcG, Thu Sep-12-19 08:51 PM
It's the flavored shit the dudes with douche flutes blow giant clouds with all day.

Not saying there aren't bullshit harmful weed ones, there definitely are. But again, they're probably the flavored bullshit made with low quality terpenes and shit. Just research your brands and sources. I'd bet the weed vape producers are probably more cognizant about what they make their shit with than the nicotine vape producers.
13347603, Nah

Vaping illnesses highlight flawed marijuana regulations

13347605, I'ma need more than one doctor freaking out to believe it.
Posted by KiloMcG, Sat Sep-14-19 09:26 PM
Again, not saying you are wrong, but I really doubt the six deaths that have occurred were all from weed vapes.
13347126, Hell no. It was whack from the start
Posted by Atillah Moor, Wed Sep-11-19 03:58 PM
Smoking oil man? Come on
13347388, the oils are wack, but dry herb vapes are as good
Posted by Stevie Lee, Fri Sep-13-19 09:41 AM
or better than smoking

>or better than smoking

If you can get good, clean concentrates from a company. Then yeah it's better than flower.

710 Labs, Feeling Frosty, Lazercat, Concentrated Solutions, Royal Key. All very transparent about their extraction process. All top shelf.
13347172, if you gonna vape weed THC only carts, no additives
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Thu Sep-12-19 12:01 AM
also the extraction method is important.

the additives and the extraction method are the things that are dangerous

13347579, Is there a list somewhere of trustworthy brands?

13347231, Vaping is too beneficial to get banned
Posted by Kira, Thu Sep-12-19 11:30 AM
Cbd is a great reason to vape.

They can't decriminalize marijuana AND ban vaping with a recession on the horizon.

Plus there a legit non thc herbs to vape for good uses like Kava Kava etc. Herbal smoking blends are great. If smoking isn't illegal then vaping shouldn't be illegal.

Posted by handle, Sat Sep-14-19 03:21 PM
Anything your inhaling into your lungs has a pretty good chance of having unintended health consequence.

Maybe this actually needed to go through the FDA before being flavored and sold at the local convince store for years.
