13347072, Are you worst at typing than you were 10 years ago?

i have noticed i definitely am. my job requires a lot of proofreading so i have always paid a lot of attention to this. lately i have so many typos in emails, texts and posts. a whole word missing, for some reason adding an s or ed where it makes no sense.

i even miss a lot of typos when i see posts. when i go back to them i will sometimes find them and im surprised how i missed them the first time.

Poll question: Are you worst at typing than you were 10 years ago?

13347074, No but I am worse at hand writing stuff

It feels so foreign to actually hand write something now. Usually its just some hastily scribbled note at most. I can't imagine writing a whole letter or paper by hand.
13347076, it trips me out when i miss a letter when im writing something

ive always been a sloppy writer, very messy handwriting.

13347077, What's gotten worse is my handwriting

With all the time I spend typing on a keyboard or my phone, I almost never have to write on paper any more. If I need to fill out a form or write a note I can barely form the letters. It's like my handwriting muscles have atrophied.
13347092, It me.

My struggle. When I review notes from work meetings, I am left befuddled by how lazy my hand can be. Makes me sad 'cause I received lots of compliments for my dope penmanship in K-12.
13347079, I'm a god on the keyboard. I'm an oaf on the touchscreen.

13347087, way better

and i was already a speed demon on the keyboard before.
my handwriting is back to kindergarten levels though. i hardly ever have to write anything for work unless its notes for myself

just playing
but yeah, my typos are at an all time high.
partially to this wireless keyboard i use, and partially due to my over reliance on auto correcting software tools.
plus, i never look at the screen as i type, always at the keyboard. i have a mental block.
13347117, im not going to pretend to understand this
Posted by mista k5, Wed Sep-11-19 03:22 PM
lol
13347102, no but my penmanship is trash, my 3rd grade teacher would be appalled

13347109, sounds like more of a hazard with your job
Posted by hardware, Wed Sep-11-19 02:58 PM
i can totally see it slipping if you have to deal with it constantly.
13347116, the good thing is i dont generate copy
Posted by mista k5, Wed Sep-11-19 03:21 PM
im just proofreading as an extra service. the customer provides all the copy, i just gotta make sure i dont delete anything lol

if i catch something then theyre always happy i caught it. if i dont, its on them, especially once they sign off. unless i generate the problem.

with that said, when it comes to my actual work i will reread things plenty of times and look up anything im unsure about.

i used to be so careful with my emails and judge folks for typos. nope now im constantly typing thnak you and such. i usually catch it before i hit send but some typos do escape.

13347178, I used to be eloquent as shit....now i be typing like a millennial

Well played.
13347191, I'm much better. I can type w/o looking at the keys at all now
Posted by flipnile, Thu Sep-12-19 09:31 AM
Took over 30 years, but at some point I've really learned the entire keyboard. I can find almost every letter and symbol without looking or even thinking about it.

My spelling has gotten worse tho.
13347193, typing and spelling have gone down.

I was never a good typer, but I wasn't a sloth either. but now all of it seems to have gone to the shit house.
13347246, I forgot to answer the question

I'm just as good at typing, if not better.

Mavis Beacon taught me, back in the 90s, and I've been Speedy Gonzales ever since.

>im even doing the here/hear typa stuff too.

i catch myself using the wrong there and such when i would never do that.
