13342985, just bought coffee and a donut with crypto
Posted by Crash Bandacoot, Tue Aug-13-19 02:35 PM
i was able to just walk into dunkin donuts/baskin robbins and purchase coffee and
a donut with eth using a mobile app. it's one thing to hear about real world
use case for crypto but, to see it in action with your own two eyes....it's
revolutionary. it was just like any other transaction, the cashier had no clue i was
using eth.
13342994, How does it work?

Do you scan a barcode or something?

it's a new payment system that will let you spend crypto in physical stores and
eventually online. the app generates a QR code that you scan at the checkout
register. each transaction goes through the network's token which will eventually
allow for staking of those tokens. you can pay with btc, eth, bitcoin cash, gemini
dollar (winklevoss' stablecoin), and zcash was just added. the list of merchants is
growing fast, the team claims over 30,000. they opened up shop in canada
yesterday.

here's their medium site:

You're better off stacking it and waiting until it increases in price before selling it.
13343018, Isn’t this like cashing out a stock to buy coffee?

I guess she was testing out a new app but I thought the hole point of crypto was to stack money and buy shady stuff anonymously

the eth was free ($5 worth) but, yeah. you don't necessarily have to transact with
hard earned crypto, could transact with a stablecoin.
13343033, ain't that the diarrhea virus keeping ppl out of pools? nm
