13311219, Slave Pussy (Netflix, 2019)

https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/article/5984kz/netflix-series-siempre-bruja-teaser

When CW announced its Charmed reboot this summer, the network billed it as a multicultural reimagining of the show with three Latinx actresses at its center. Turns out that wasn't actually true—only one of the three leads is of Hispanic descent, according to the Mary Sue.

That's where Netflix's new show Siempre Bruja comes in. The Caracol Televisión-produced series features a host of Latinx talent and is only the second ever Colombian original series for the streaming giant. The genre-blending historical drama follows the story of Carmen, a 19-year-old Afro-Colombian slave and witch who travels through time from the 17th century to the present-day Colombian city of Cartagena in a desperate attempt to rescue her loved one.

I wont be watching the show,
my Twitter TL is up in arms about her being a slave, so I made a callback to a classic okp phrase and kept it moving
I hope you're well
13311305, Why would you even go there with the title of this post? It's offensive
Posted by kfine, Sat Feb-02-19 04:26 PM

to have to keep seeing this phrase on the front page.

Furthermore it has zero relation to the translated meaning of the series' actual title.

And yes, I'm aware of the background behind that phrase with respect to okp history. It's still not funny.

Not sure how many other black women post here to feel/not feel similarly, but this one does.

13311336, was the first colombian series la reina del flow? that shit SUCKED
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Feb-02-19 09:22 PM
on one hand i got a big ass kick hearing all the medellin slang in a TV series. not since that shit where the jawn was selling roses in the street back in the 80s has a film so nailed la jerga paisa, la jerga nea, etc. that shit was mad funny to me, just strange hearing what is even to spanish speaking people a largely foreign language was amusing. but the series itself was the most over-dramatic piece of shit i have ever seen, wow, even by telenovela standards it was way way way over the top.

edit: i know that was *on* netflix, but was it made *for* netflix? if not, what was the other colombian series? please tell me it wasn't some other tired ass shit about pablo escobar.

Yes. La Reina Del Flow was the first one.

It was a guilty pleasure of the wife and I for a couple weeks..

until we got bored with the bullshit twists and turns.
13311554, never seen a series jump the shark SO fast

i mean they set her up for a drug bust that landed her in jail for 20 years, got her pregnant, got rich off her songs, stole the baby and killed her grandmother in the span of like three episodes lmao. there were more plot twists in a week than most series have in a season if not their entire run.

the actress they had playing her as an adult was in la hija de mariachi, that shit was pretty legit as telenovelas go. the one they had playing her as a teenager they dressed down to look real simple but i saw her in person, absolutely gorgeous young woman.
13311462, They done got PC up off in here?

a long time ago, a woman who used to hang around here (Peabody fka Stephbit) once recalled (overshared) a sexual moment with a white man she was with, where they were roleplaying. in said roleplay, she asked him if he wanted "this slave pussy".

"Slave Pussy" was her informal name here for a min afterward (she even rocked an avatar of a woman I think was supposed to be Sally Hemmings?)

13311635, OH. oh no no no no no. Not like this!
