the made-up black villain & black on black violence is a horrible/pointless addition to the story, and if the writers felt the need to be "creative", they coulda just as easily made harriet a superhero that scissorkicks slaveowners, instead of adding a black boogieman. but it begs the question on if them adding that character is what finally got the movie picked up by a studio.


if u are taking kids, and can break down the good and bad of the story that is shown afterwards, then it could be worth it for them
