13279051, Just picked up two perfect pairs of jeans at Goodwill

Like...never been worn perfect.

Red tags...color of the day was yellow, so I missed on that.

But two pairs of jeans for 16 bucks? I might even iron them too..

Every year or so, I clean out my closet of stuff I don't wear. Inevitably I find a whole bunch of good stuff that I've worn just once or stuff that even still has the tags on it.

Online shopping is the devil!!!
13279073, Nah....not trying on the "new sizes" in the devil
Posted by tully_blanchard, Thu Aug-09-18 02:57 PM
When did "XL" become "M"??

Felt like Tony Atlas at my nephews graduation.

Somebody bought to get a brand new, worn only once...slightly stretched out shirt

remind me of being broke af. like I won't have kool/flavor-aid for the same reason.

I know I'm on some bs, but it just don't feel right.
13279142, Paying $150 for jeans doesn’t feel right.
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Aug-09-18 07:36 PM
I was crying when my wife got some True Religion jeans thrift shopping then tried to got into the store in Manhattan. I waited outside. She did the Grandpa Simpson
13279258, 150 is too much for me too.
Posted by tariqhu, Fri Aug-10-18 12:35 PM
but there are a lot of jeans that can be had for way less than that.

admittedly, I'm bougie on somethings. at this point in my life, I'm ok with paying a bit for things I want. I have my limits still and look for discounts too.

but I haven't crossed that barrier yet with the goodwills/thrift joints. just not my thing.

buy all kinds of shit that people can't get on the other side of the country and come up as resellers
13279146, I remember being that way...
Posted by Trinity444, Thu Aug-09-18 08:43 PM
a childhood friend family shopped there often. I mean...all of us was poor but shopping there seem worse. The crew and I clowned her a lot. Later in life (twentyish) she took me there and I wouldn’t get out the car. I sat in the car like a damn fool...

A few years ago, I learned GW isn’t just for clothes, the poor. I like to re-create...take something old and make it new again so I’m always on the hunt for something I can refurbish.

Another man’s junk is another’s treasure...

13279182, Chiileee...I done came up in GW so many times
Posted by tully_blanchard, Fri Aug-10-18 07:15 AM
Wifey never had aproblem shopping there. Like you, i wouldnt set foot in any second hand store. She used to go to Value Village all the time, and I would sit in the car or walk back home.

I used to look at it like the po' people store too, but then I realized that:

1-The rich stay rich by not overspending

2-I aint got it like that to drop 50-75 on a pair of pants or shirt or whatever

I got over it and I've found soo much good stuff besides clothes.

That's basically my bookstore now, lol. Just bought a sturdy solid 6ft tall bookshelf in there the other day for $25. Got my standard 2 channel receiver (my preference for playing records/tapes) for $12. And of course I always stop in looking for records. I will not buy a hat from there though, lol. Or shoes..

13279183, We used to make fun of goodwill growing up
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Aug-10-18 07:17 AM
We wouldn’t be caught dead in there but had no problem going to Hills or JCPenny

My mother in law is a thrifting mofo. Every time she comes to Charlotte they hit up thrift stores and come back with bags of clothes for the kids. Fly shit too.

One thing I realized is Black folk will overpay for some shit to prove they aren’t poor while rich folks will bargain shop to stay rich.

This post is perfect timing.

When we were in Savannah we hit up a Salvation Army downtown and there were a lot of profession looking people in there looking through the suits and ties. You have to dig but if you have time you can find some nice stuff.
13279242, maaan, I got a damn near brand new suit in there.
