Poor and middle class whites inexplicably seeing more of themselves in the rich landowners than they do in their fellow poor and middle class minorities, and as a result aligning themselves with the very people oppressing them despite all the indisputable evidence that they're being fucked too, flying directly in their faces multiple times per day for centuries. It's so disheartening how strategically these seeds were planted by the people in power.
