Being aware of the puppet strings makes someone "freer" than the person who doesn't acknowledge them?

I could toned down my praise and think it's cool that the brother can do network TV, release music, and dance shirtless and femininely like he don't give AF feels pretty free to me.

I am old and cynical (and invested) in thinking that you have to be able to navigate white spaces in order to have a certain amount of freedom in this country.
