No one is going to really object to lower taxes across the board, holding everything else equal.

But you can't cut taxes without paying for it......

Traditionally republicans will fight to cut spending to pay for tax cuts. The spending cuts would largely come from entitlements (welfare, SS, medicare/medicaid).

Democrats would fight to pay for it with increased taxes on the higher incomes (to pay for middle income tax cuts)

But this time around Republicans said forgot the old playbook. They won't even whisper about spending cuts of any kind
