Well, a big part of being the ultimate salesman is having the ultimate product.
And to be clear, I'm not saying Kanye IS Trump, but I see how they would recognize aligned interests and tactics in each other.
The brand has been and will always be success. Shock is a possible marketing ploy. Sometimes the marketing is centered around glamour. Sometimes it's centered around grievance and comeuppance.
They both use them as devices to get what they want and seize opportunities to sell themselves as the arbiters of success.
But Trump is definitely a different, more dangerous beast.

Trump is playing around with centuries of racial grievance on the world political stage and inciting animus in the populace.
Kanye alludes to racism to get a spot in fashion week.

In this case he cosigned something that makes himself fit to be exploited and appropriated by the former.

Yea, there is definitely some hyperbole and conjecture in some of that.
Even in what I'm saying.
But I see the connections and I can understand the response to his recklessness.
