If you take the Buy Black/Black capitalism argument to its logical extreme, you end up arguing that black people can entrepreneur their way out of racism like other ethnic groups have done. A lot of the black socialists I know would argue that this leaves the basic logic of capitalism unchallenged and discounts how deeply anti-black racism is connected to capitalism.

I mean, Farrakhan organized the largest gathering of black people in American history around the idea of atoning for our bad behavior and promising to embrace traditional gender roles and be the heads of our families.

There was a point a few years back when every other black person was reading that Steve Harvey book.

I disagree with both of them but I see folks buying into it on the timeline so I don't want to discount the fact that those sorts of messages resonate with people.

haha Mike's political philosophy is all over the place.
