13241304, Who is the best singer you saw live?
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Mar-09-18 12:58 PM
No frills, no studio effects...just on stage with a mic pushing wigs back. For me...no question, no doubt, get out my face...Chris Cornell. Dude did Black Hole Sun acoustic...just demolished the place. The other day I was listening to Dan LeBatard and Bomani Jones was on, just bullshittin. He started talkin about music...he said Stevie Wonder was the best live singer he's EVER seen...hands down. That made me start thinking about this post. Speaking of Stevie...who remembers this commercial?

I saw both at Black Lilly countless times..

Jasmine Sullivan was like 14 at the time and sounded like a 30 year old church lady.

I didn't even realize it was her on the radio until my wife said "is that the same Jasmine Sullivan from Black Lilly.

This was the first real show Ive been too. He easily was the best part. Costello and Dylan were way past their prime. Dylan in particular sounded like the cookie monster with laryngitis. A lot of people left a few songs into his set.

I’m super jelly! If there’s one major tour from the 1980s I wish I could go back in time and witness, it would be the Heartbreak Tour.

NE, Bobby Brown, Al B Sure and The Gylrz!

Saw him twice.

First at The Greek where I showed up 4 hours early because I drove from another city.

I heard his vocal warm ups.

Started out ROUGH and BAD, but after about an hour of him singing and drink some concoction his voice was 99.9% as sweet as it was on the records.

He had to work to get there, and he did.
13241445, so you mean pure voice and not stage show presence?

Dude is CRAZY nice on some live vocal range shit even in his middle age. Saw Stevie back in 2008 and it was maybe one of the top 5 concerts i've ever been too, tho.

Avery Sunshine has to have the vocal thing AND the stage presence thing down to a science

Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Fri Mar-09-18 03:43 PM
Fred Hammond, Ben Tankard, Futrel, and a few choirs were there. I remember this lady singing so vicious that the host couldn't even talk for 30 seconds...crowd was still cheering, and he was trying not to cry. She sang something that was slow and emotional, but hit every single note, and had a crazy clear range.

I actually wonder if she is someone who became famous or even Gospel Famous...it was so long ago that I wouldn't have known.

They were just in Baltimore last month, and they ate dinner at a friend's spot where there is an open mic...they went up and sang 'My Girl' during the open mic!!! If that wasn't fucking epic in and of itself....but the lead singer, goodness gracious. He is not an original member (although the last original member, Otis Williams, was there!)...but this lead singer, dude's voice is ridiculous.
