from what I remember, the first event (the slave themed house party) was suppose to be some some sort of networking event for a job or business connect... not really for fun..

this germantown event seems more about celebrating her German culture and nostalgia. isn't it implied that she is part german? also this event seems to be a made up celebration that combines oktoberfest and carnival which don't even happen during the same time of year and in different regions of Germany. so this is not even a real event but written to be weird. carnival is celebrated all over the world so it's not really a "white" event, but more of a religious/cultural event.
