NPR Tiny Desk came out of a bunch of indie rock videos that would have bands play in different places (like la blogotheque). While we can make the argument is still performing for white people (which, lol, is hard not to do in 2018) , a least in the later its a live document linked to a news story along with presumably interested folks in the crowd. There ain't no real difference between Tiny Desk and MTV Unplugged outside of the venue.
With that table dancing shit its literally for the entertainment for the 12 people in the crowd with the insinuation that you gotta 'impress them, or else'
